TikTok is all about sparking creativity and joy, two attributes the inspiring LGBTQIA+ community really embodies. In honour of Pride Month, throughout June we will be spotlighting and celebrating some of the creators who are using their platform to inspire and educate.

@stuartandfrancis are an amazing father/dad duo, who showcase the realities of parenting as a gay couple by taking us through the highs and lows of raising their adorable son, Rio. Alongside sharing their daily life, they show us what taking a break looks like, sharing night out videos too!

They have also helped educate our community on the struggles and joys of starting a family together. Whether it's showcasing their surrogacy journey, talking about connecting with their child, or all the excitment in between, we love that they keep it real and educate audiences on growing their family in their own way.

Earlier this month, we sat down with @stuartandfrancis to chat all things #Pride, the inspiration behind their content, and their favourite creators on the platform.

Firstly, happy Pride month to you! Tell us, what does Pride mean to you?

People being accepted is such a wonderful feeling, and doesn’t happen for everyone.

Pride for us is all about fully embracing who you are. So many people in the LGBTQIA+ community really struggle when first coming out to fully accept themselves. That might be because maybe a parent or loved one doesn’t fully understand, so these moments can be challenging. Pride is a chance to help people really understand that being you is exactly what the world needs, and by celebrating and having fun it helps all members of the community to see that you can have a great life just being you.

Which other LGBTQIA+ creators on TikTok inspire you?

We are really inspired by Dylan Mulvaney (@dylanmulvaney). They have such a positive message and no matter what is thrown at them, they always respond with love and compassion and understanding, that takes true strength of character. We also love Chris Olsen (@chris), he is just being himself and having as much fun as possible which is what we are all about.

What first inspired you to share your voice on TikTok?

When we decided to start a family, the first thing we did was jump on social media to find other families like ours, and we couldn’t find anyone really, especially in the UK. Years ago when Neal Patrick Harris had his family it was the first time we ever saw the dynamics of 2 dads bringing up kids. We became obsessed with the Halloween outfits and the fun they were having as dads - we even stuck pictures of them on our vision board in the hope that one day we could follow in their footsteps! So, when we didn’t see the representation online that we would have loved to see, we thought: why not be that for other people. Also, it’s fun to create on TikTok!

What is your goal on TikTok?

Our mission is to change people’s hearts and minds on what a gay family looks like. Sometimes when you don’t see it, it can seem scary, and all hatred stems from fear. We hope that when people come to our page, they see the joy and love we have to share, and for any other LGBTIQIA people out there they can see that having a family can be a possibility for them too one day.

What is your favourite TikTok video you have made to date and why?

We are loving creating our dancing on our front step videos. Rio, our son, just loves music and dance and we are just being silly and expressing ourselves which is always fantastic.

Finally, what else is on your For You feed?

We both love musical theatre so much, so when any videos come up that include singing and shows we make sure we like them so we see more. We also both love watching people clean or re stock their fridges, soo random but soo satisfying!
