Every February in the UK we celebrate LGBTQIA+ history month, a time to spotlight and celebrate the history of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community. It is also an opportunity to highlight the ongoing issues the LGBTQIA+ community face globally 🌈 ❤️

Our LGBTQIA+ creators are an intrinsic part of our global community, and throughout February, our Creator Spotlight series will be dedicated to some of the many inspiring LGBTQIA+ voices on TikTok.

This week, we're speaking to @caitlinandleah, with 5.8 million followers and 251.5 million likes on TikTok, the couple are impossible to miss! Their feel-good content looks at the importance of acceptance and shuts down haters. They share relatable relationship videos, and even found time to recently post an #outfitcheck for the Brits with their community.

They've also been sharing their intimate IVF journey and have been regularly updating our community on this important step in their lives. Growing day by day and becoming a bigger family, Caitlin and Leah are two creators who are going from strength to strength and who we can't wait to hear more from!

On Sunday 13th February at 6pm GMT Caitlin and Leah will be also joining a Valentine's special livestream of Mrs and Mrs 🌈 ❤️ The couple will compete against another queer couple, Amara and Keira, to show how well they know their partner in a series of fun questions and challenges, you won't want to miss it!

But before that, We sat them down to discuss what LGBTQIA+ History Month means to them both, and to learn about what inspires them...

What does LGBTQIA+ History Month mean to you both?

It means a lot to us. It’s a month to recognise and shed light on everything our community has gone through and the rights fought for over the years.

We think these 7 statements are important when thinking about LGBTQIA+ History month:

1. Remembering those without rights

2. Remembering how we got rights

3. To discover hidden histories we were never taught about

4. To let LGBTQIA+ children see themselves reflected back in their history

5. To learn how to change the world

6. Remember how far we’ve come

7. To learn about those different from ourselves

LGBTQ+ History Month provides role models, builds community, and represents a civil rights statement about the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community.

What do you love most about TikTok?

We love how inclusive TikTok is, and how you’re able to find and build communities! And how the FYP is literally ‘for you' - it’s scary how accurate it is sometimes!

What first inspired you to create on TikTok?

Caitlin’s cousin! She was always on the app and it looked fun. So we decided to create a couples account just as a hobby and we’ve loved it ever since.

Why is TikTok right for your feel good content?

There are a lot of LGBTQIA+ people out there who may not know anyone in the community. We hope that our content creates a relatable space where people feel safe and seen.

What is your favourite recent challenge or trend on TikTok?

Our favourite recent trend on TikTok has got to be the ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ trend.

What is your goal on TikTok?

We want to continue growing and helping as many people as possible. We hope our content makes people feel seen.

What else or who else is on your TikTok For You feed?

Lots of LGBTQIA+ accounts and couples! Recently we’ve also had a lot of content pop up about people going through IVF like us!

What is your favourite TikTok you have made to date and why?

Probably the TikTok where we announced we were starting IVF. The comments were so lovely. We regularly go back and read them!

Finally . . . How will you both be spending Valentine's Day?

We are actually spending Valentine’s Day going shopping with both of mums to find ‘mother of the bride’ dresses!
