We're now halfway through the Edinburgh Fringe, and as TikTok continues its role as the Official Virtual Stage for 2023, we thought we'd spotlight a few more of the fabulous and talented creators in Scotland this summer!
So, without further ado, let us introduce you to the hilarious Ayamé, aka @ayame.p. We are sure you’ve seen her videos all over your For You feed, with her room service series, duets reacting to different creators videos, and little snippets of her life she has become a well known figure in the #comedy space.
Her fanbase has led to her making her Edinburgh Fringe debut with fellow TikTok creators, @cocosarel, @henryrowleyy and @stevenmckell, in their show Knock Knock. If you are lucky enough to be in Edinburgh, be sure to check them out at the Pleasance!
We sat down with @ayame.p to chat all things Fringe, the inspiration behind her account, as well as her favourite creators on the platform.
We are very excited to see you at the Fringe Festival; how does a live audience compare to sharing comedy on TikTok?
It's completely different! When sharing a video on TikTok, you're able to sit and process your thoughts and wait for the praise (or hate) to come in. When you're on stage you're so much more vulnerable, stood there, waiting for an in-person reaction - everything is riding on that one moment you're on stage.
Why did you decide to start creating content on TikTok?
I'd posted a video of myself and my mum during Christmas 2021 which did incredibly well. At that point, I was completely shocked but I thought "this is your moment, don't let it pass you by". I started to research the algorithm and "how to be a creator" and began posting 4-5x a day.
What other comedy creators on TikTok do you follow?
I have such a random FYP, I've come across creators that have my exact random humour like @whtvrbeth, @jeremythemanager and @alejwho. I also love @devon_palmer 's skits and @boysgonewiild as well as @thefashionfreakk 's makeup looks - THERE'S JUST SO MANY!
What is your goal on TikTok?
I, of course, have a numerical goal of followers in mind (I think everyone does) but overall I'd love to create a community for my TikTok specifically, where my followers are all part of one "group" that just love each other (but not a cult!)
What is your favourite TikTok video you have made to date and why?
My favourite video is probably the final episode of my Moving In Series; The Coffee Table. I'd just moved into my new flat and it was so nice to share my creativity in such a different way. My mum had always been into DIY and crafting and passed that on to me, and I got the opportunity to share that side of my life.
What else is on your For You feed?!
To be honest, it's a load of bottles breaking and sometimes frogs... and then dog compilations. No comment.
Finally, any top tips for first time visitors to the Fringe Festival this year?
It's a lot, there's a lot going on and everything is so different. Don't forget to take a moment to chill and take it all in because it can be overwhelming.
