We sat down with Ambika to get the lowdown on The Fashion Awards 2021, as well as how she manages her own fashion content!
What are you most looking forward to at The Fashion Awards 2021?
That's actually a difficult question to answer! I think I’m torn between looking forward to seeing everyone in full glam - especially the creators and stars - and seeing which artists land in the 2021 NEW WAVE CREATIVES list! It’s going to be a lot of fun seeing some of the designs we saw on the catwalk at London Fashion Week in real life - it’ll be my first Fashion Awards and I’m so excited to see how the night plays out!
What do you love most about fashion on TikTok?
The variety! I love that not only do you get to see a wide range of different styles and fashion subcultures on TikTok but also you get a huge range of fashion content. My FYP has everything from transition videos to GRWM to fashion commentary and I love that!
What do you find inspiring about the TikTok community?
That we are a force for change. I think it’s been proven time and time again that TikTok exists outside of the app; our online trends can really affect everyday life and that's so exciting to see!
What is your favourite recent challenge or trend on TikTok?
It has to be the 'Smoking Out the Window' by Silk Sonic. I love seeing people get more creative with their transitions and it’s a fun one that everyone can jump on.
What else or who else is on your TikTok For You feed?!
A whole range of content! PetTok, FoodTok, and CoffeeTok. Some of my favourite accounts are @nikkalcaraz and @whataboutbunny and @thealgorhythm.
What is your favourite TikTok you have made to date and why?
I think I’m torn between the ‘Bang’ quick outfit TikTok from January or my 'Outfits Inspired by Paintings' TikTok.
The Bang one took AGES to film and I couldn't decide on what to wear! I thought it'd be horrible but it's one of my best TikTok's to date.
The Outfits Inspired by Paintings is a favourite because I could get really creative - even with the transitions - and I had such a fun time matching outfits to the paintings in question!
