[UPDATE - March 25, 2021]: Beginning March 25, 2021, creators will need at least 100K authentic video views in the last 30 days to be eligible to join the Creator Fund. The Creator Fund is in its early stages, and we're continuously exploring new ways to improve the experience for our creator community and the way creators are rewarded. We’re looking forward to sharing more information soon!

Rich Waterworth, General Manager, TikTok Europe

For millions of people across the UK, TikTok is a platform that inspires creativity in entirely unpredictable ways. In just the last few months, we've seen users breathe new life into the traditional Irish dance, creating entertaining mash-ups and showing that dance crazes old and new can thrive on TikTok. Iconic British chef, Gordon Ramsay, has shared hilarious reactions to Americans making their own version of classic British dishes, and a whole range of TikTok DIYers have shown us how caravans can be reimagined for the most on-fleek staycation.

Creators are the lifeblood of TikTok, and every day millions of users bring together video and music, sparking new trends or creating moments of cultural mash-ups to be enjoyed by people across the UK. We've laughed, learnt new things, and been humbled by the content our creator community have continued to share.

Last month, we announced that the TikTok Creator Fund would soon be arriving in Europe, giving talented individuals the opportunity to turn their creativity into a career. This new European fund will start initially with $70 million in the first year, which we expect to rise to a total of at least $300 million within three years.

Tens of thousands of creators in Europe will be eligible for the fund, and today we're excited to announce some of the first recipients. These first creators represent just a small snapshot of the diverse ecosystem of authentic and joyful content that makes TikTok what it is today. This is just the beginning. We can't wait to take this even further to even more creators across Europe.

From Tuesday 1 September, creators will be able to apply to receive funding through the TikTok Creator Fund. You'll need to meet some initial criteria, acknowledging those who are clearly investing time and energy to turn a creative hobby or fun pasttime into a possible career path. Users must be 18 years or older, meet a baseline of 100,000 followers, have over 100,000 video views in the past 30 days and post original content in line with our Community Guidelines. All eligible creators will be able to apply in-app for the Creator Fund and will receive the funds in regular monthly installments based on the performance of their content.

Here are some of the initial recipients of our Fund - we can't wait to see what else they have in-store for us:

@Florence.Simpson - Flo is a body confidence warrior based in Portsmouth. She joined TikTok in May 2020, with the simple ambition to fit back in her jeans and capture her journey. Encouraging people to love their body and stay away from fad diets, she shares her wholesome recipes, workout tips and and honest accounts of her daily life.

@MenWithThePot - two friends Slawek and Krzysiek, live in Northern Ireland and love cooking in the great outdoors. Armed with a forest fire, a pot and some delicious homegrown ingredients, @menwiththepot joined TikTok in April 2020 to show us how to make delicious creations outside the kitchen. Woodfire cooked meatballs, anyone?

@ShericeBanton - Sherice is a rising TikTok star and comedian, hailing from Bedford and sharing her take on the world. Nothing is off limits, performing impressions of all the wonderful characters in her life and delivering entertaining visual comedy to keep the TikTok community laughing.

@MakeupbyTammi - Tammi is an emerging make-up content creator from London, using TikTok to help beauty lovers put together incredible make-up looks on a budget. She also has her own line of fabulous eye cake liners, brushes and faux lashes.

@HollyH - 23-year-old Holly from Guernsey has been creating snappy videos and posting them online since she was 16. With over 16.7 million followers, she is one of TikTok's biggest success stories, sharing her own unique take on massive TikTok trends and showing all sides of her personality.

@TimDessaint - London-based Tim Dessaint is a men's fashion and lifestyle content creator. His simple aesthetic and easy to follow styling tips like three ways to style a cardigan to how to look expensive on a budget have earned him a dedicated and loyal TikTok following.

@AbbyArtistry - Make-up artist Abby Roberts from Leeds combines make-up and art to create iconic transformations. Her talent has seen her catapult from a bedroom makeup artist to an internet sensation, using her beauty skills to miraculously transform into celebrities, cartoon characters and internet memes.

@Lia.Lewis - Lia is a freestyle footballer hoping to inspire more young women to get into the sport. Previously achieving a degree in dance, she only started kicking a football around when she joined TikTok. Now she’s one of the leading female sports TikTok creators, sharing footie tricks along with freestyle fails to show how everything she does takes time and practice.

@jamesllewis - James Lewis is an artist based in Wales, who combines calligraphy and painting to create standout, graphical art. He shows his creative process on TikTok, reimagining iconic cultural characters, from SpongeBob SquarePants to The Simpsons and more.

We hope this Creator Fund will play a small part in inspiring even more creativity on TikTok. By providing this long-term support for our creator community, we want to help emerging creative talent in the UK use this opportunity as a springboard for a career both on and off our platform.
