Every month, over 1 billion people come together on TikTok to share authentic stories, build meaningful connections and find community. With conversations related to #MentalHealth and #MentalHealthAwareness inspiring almost 25 million videos to date, our goal is to continue fostering an environment where people can safely share their well-being journeys. This World Mental Health Day, we're making it easier than ever for our community to access authoritative content and reliable resources.

Supporting our creator community in partnership with Headspace

In line with our continued commitment to supporting our global creator community, we're partnering with Headspace on a new initiative that aims to equip creators with everyday mental health resources. Through this collaboration, we're providing up to 20 thousand global creators with six months of free access to the Headspace app. The app includes a variety of expert-led tools and mental health content proven to reduce stress, boost positivity, and build resilience to navigate life’s ups and downs.

"Headspace is on a mission to make mental health support more accessible, approachable, and effective. By teaming up with TikTok on World Mental Health Day, our hope is that creators feel empowered to take control of their mental well-being and turn to Headspace as a resource through all of life’s ups and downs,” said Emma Nemtin, Head of Consumer Partnerships and Distribution, Headspace.

"With millions of people coming to TikTok to share their well-being journey with others, we know how important it is for people to have access to reliable information and resources about mental health. As we celebrate World Mental Health Day, we've strengthened how we support our creator community by providing them with free access to expert-led tools and resources from Headspace,” said Valiant Richey, Global Head of Trust and Safety Outreach and Partnerships, TikTok.

Fostering a safe and supportive online community

Our community's well-being, both online and offline, matters to us. We work closely with experts, partners, and mission-driven organisations around the world to share authoritative information, provide access to well-being resources such as our Well-being Guide, and continue to foster a supportive online community.

To further strengthen how we prevent this type of harmful content online, we recently became one of the founding members of The Mental Health Coalition's Thrive program. Through our participation in Thrive, we will securely share information about content which violates our suicide and self-harm policies with industry partners like Meta and Snapchat. This sharing allows us to collaborate within our industry to keep people safe on TikTok and beyond.

Championing mental well-being advocacy

From recording heartfelt personal #WellBeing journeys to sharing #SelfCare and #StressRelief tips, our global community continues to support one another and raise mental well-being awareness through authentic storytelling.

  • To further strengthen our commitment to mental well-being awareness and literacy, we have partnered with the World Health Organisation to create reliable content and combat misinformation through the Fides network, a diverse community of trusted healthcare professionals and content creators. We were delighted to be at the 2024 United Nations General Assembly week in New York to discuss our partnership at the 2024 Concordia Annual Summit and Goals House events, which featured an engaging conversation with qualified mental health content creators, academics, and the World Health Organisation.

We invite our community to join us celebrating World Mental Health Day 2024 by sharing encouraging stories and personal well-being journeys using hashtags such as #WorldMentalHealthDay, #MentalHealthAwareness and access additional well-being resources by visiting our Well-being Guide.
