September marks Fashion Month, with amazing shows set to hit New York, London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks. To celebrate this important moment in the fashion calendar and the impact of our TikTok community across the fashion world, we're thrilled to introduce the #TikTokFashion Collective - creators from around the world who are creatives, designers, and fashion thinkers shaping the future of fashion on TikTok and beyond.

Today we're kicking off the first in a series of spotlights focused on the creative minds that make up the #TikTokFashion Collective. So without further ado, meet @yungalyy - aka Aly.

With over 1 million followers, he's a clear star. Our community loves his 'get ready with me' style videos, tips on how you can ace different aesthetics, as well as when he takes on fashion challenges.

Alongside his work as a fashion trailblazer, Aly also showcases snippets of his daily life, insights into fun events he attends, as well as getting involved in some of TikTok's viral trends.

Ahead of the start of Fashion Month, we sat down with @yungalyy to talk all things #Fashion, the inspiration behind his account, and his favourite creators on the platform!

What is your favourite thing about fashion and style content on TikTok?

I love the freedom that I have to express myself on TikTok, I feel like no other app really lets you do that without having to care about ‘your image’ so much! Also, I love the fact that fashion on TikTok is so unique and there’s so much inspo to choose from. For my type of content, I try to keep it varied in terms of how I create video concepts. I always want to make sure my audience never get to know what’s coming next if that makes sense!

Why did you decide to start creating content on TikTok?

Honestly, it was accidental! There was a trend going around looking at what you would wear front row at your fave fashion designers' shows. Everyone was doing Prada, Gucci etc., but I had none of those pieces, so I just wanted to do something fun instead. I ended up doing a streetwear version with brands like Bape and Supreme - it turned out really well and I got lot of followers from it. It was like a dompaine and adrenaline rush all at once and I loved the feeling of inspiring people, so it all kind of started from there.

What other fashion creators on TikTok do you follow?

Stephen Somotayo, The Futurist and Y00sef are my fave creators. I love their styles and the content they create.

What is your goal on TikTok?

I have two currently:

  • Hit 2 million followers by the middle of next year
  • Become one of the faces of fashion on social media for showing people cool and unique brands as well as really great pieces

What is your favourite TikTok video you have made to date and why?

That’s a hard one BUT if I had to choose then it would probably be either styling a keyboard jacket because it was so unique and no one has ever done that before! There's also a video called ‘welcome to the Eminem show’ where I did like 16 different outfits of his, it was really fun to make and again no-one has done that many fits of his in one video.

What piece of advice would you give to someone interested in fashion?

Experiment. Try not to overthink your outfit and don’t spend too much money. You can always look fly on a budget.

Finally, what else is on your For You feed?!

A lot of unique furniture pieces. I recently moved so I’m looking for cool things to add to my apartment! Oh and also a few memes!
