Throughout Fashion Month, we're thrilled to be celebrate #TikTokFashion and our diverse community of fashion and beauty creators, designers, models, and brands on TikTok that are shaping the future of fashion.

So who better to speak to this week than @phenixsoul, aka Lyric Mariah Heard? Lyric is an up-and-coming model, creator, and disability advocate, who has been using TikTok to inspire others to celebrate their differences, but to also have fun with fashion. Whether it’s turning London into her own personal runway, changing perceptions around modelling or rating which shoes fit best with her prosthetic, we can’t get enough of Lyric’s content.

Earlier, this month, she attended New York Fashion Week, one of the most iconic moments in the fashion calendar. From stunning outfits to streetside outfit changes, she really was serving her entire trip!

With over 250k followers, it’s safe to say that Lyric is a TikTok creator to watch. We sat down with her to chat about her trip to New York Fashion Week, her TikTok goals, and the importance of showing different bodies in fashion.

We saw you were recently at New York Fashion Week, how was it?

New York was insane! It was the most chaotically beautiful experience. One moment I’m exhausted, and the other I’m like ‘OMG I’m in New York, fully booked for fashion. Like huh?’ Blessed is an understatement.

Why do you think it is important to show different bodies, especially when talking about fashion?

It’s important to show different bodies because we are all so different. Obviously, it’s impossible to show every difference, but I think it’s easy to show enough. Your customers have every type of body, so why not show them a bit of themselves instead of showing them a body they should want to have. Who does that help?

Why did you decide to start sharing content on TikTok?

It was 2020, I was living alone and TikTok made me feel connected to the outside world. To be honest, that’s the main reason.

What other creators do you follow on TikTok?

I follow a wide range of users from Da’Ana Williamson to Nara Smith, and Ayamé, who I find hilarious!

What is your goal on TikTok?

My goal is to keep a sense of myself and keep pushing myself to try things that may make me feel awkward. Because life shouldn’t be taken so seriously and I feel like TikTok is a platform that really encourages you to be an individual and explore what it means to you, regardless of who’s watching. I love seeing people doing TikTok’s in the most untraditional places - it’s iconic. I don’t find that type of content cringe - I find it brave, and I think the world could use more bravery.

What is your favourite TikTok you have made to date and why?

I can’t pick a favourite TikTok. That’s like picking a favourite child! I truly love everything I post and create, or I wouldn’t post it. Even my cringey dances were something positive at the time, so I always look back and smile. I may not do it now, but I love remembering why I did it then.

Finally, what else is on your For You feed?!

Honestly, my feed is full of an abundance of things and people. From cute baby videos to tea pages, fashion and cooking, there’s definitely a range of content! But never any ASMR. I really don’t like those! To be honest, I love family videos - they are wholesome, funny and give me a warm, fuzzy feeling.
