This Earth Day, we're celebrating the eco conscious trends and conversations emerging on TikTok, and spotlighting the creators who have been inspiring us all to think more about our planet.

From climate change activists to nature lovers, TikTok has become a home for communities rasing awareness around climate change and sustainable living, harnessing the power of creativity along the way.

One such creator who has been inspiring our community in this space is @joesgarden. A gardening and nature expert, he's been showing us that going green has never been easier. From his videos on watering potted plants and spring onion growing tips, he shows that we can all make a positive difference.

When he's not educating our community on climate anxiety or growing his own natural sponge, you can find him growing his own chilli and sharing his flower tips to make us feel like it's summer again. So whether you're a house plant expert or gardening novice, we're sure that Joe's content will inspire you to embrace all things green.

With over 966.6k followers on TikTok and his account continuing to flourish, we we sat down with Joe to talk about Earth Day, and learn more about how he got started on TikTok. . .

Firstly, what does Earth Day mean to you?

Earth Day is a day to appreciate nature. Modern life is so frantic and fast paced, we often miss the fantastic natural world on our doorstep - whether it is taking out 10 minutes to listen to birdsong, walking in the forest paying attention to the buds getting ready to bloom, or even taking your bicycle to the shops or work to enjoy the sights and smells of nature. By taking the time to appreciate nature, you will, without even realising, take steps to protect it, and this will help protect our earth.

What first inspired you to create on TikTok?

My great grandmother. As a child I was very fortunate to grow up next door to her and she taught me everything I know. Unfortunately, she passed away, and to remember what she taught me, I wanted to make videos. After recording a few tips and tricks she showed me, I felt I might be able to teach a few people about gardening, nature and plants who were not lucky enough to have a family member teach them!

TikTok was the first place I thought to share my videos because I wanted to keep the videos short and TikTok offered me the tools needed to edit from my phone with ease. I started posting in April 2021 and have loved every second since!

What do you love most about the TikTok community?

I love that you can find a community for anything. I never imagined that I'd find a massive gardening community that's super engaged and eager to learn! The questions we get asked daily are always fantastic, and everyone is so supportive, answering each others questions in the comment section.

What is your goal on TikTok?

My goal is simple, I want to teach as many people as possible about the wonders of gardening whilst also trying to put a smile on their face! My initial goal was to teach 10,000 people something new, but as I am approaching 100 million views, my goal is definitely changing

What else or who else is on your TikTok For You feed?!

My TikTok feed is so varied and that’s what makes the app so fantastic! I especially enjoy @growwithjessie and @texasbeeworks! Both channels make amazing content that I adore watching!

What is your favourite TikTok you have made to date and why?

My favourite video is the how to grow peppers video! That video was a real hit with the community, and the best part is, I don’t really enjoy eating peppers. The video showed everyone that growing food is easy - most of what you need can be upcycled from trash around your house!

@joesgarden We have grown one of the worlds craziest plants and I’m excited to show you😊🌶! #learnontiktok #chilli #planttok #garden #gardening #plants ♬ Coming of Age - Blondes
