This week, we're introducing @Dis._.Grace, the queen of self love and self expression. Grace teaches her 400+k followers the importance of embracing yourself wholly and unapologetically and she leads by example!
With her rainbow themed hair, makeup and wardrobe, there's no mistaking that Grace is LGBTQIA and proud and this Pride month, she's been celebrating her identity and the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community with her followers.
From rainbow umbrellas to rainbow flipflops Grace shares all the must-have items to celebrate Pride month every month! She is a huge advocate for doing what brings you joy and what aligns with your values, sharing exactly what being LGBTQIA+ means to her. She expresses this through colourful styling, funky outfits and challenging society’s fashion rules - and we love it!
We sat down with Grace to understand more about what inspires her ...
What does Pride month mean to you?
Pride month to me is a time of both remembrance and celebration. It is important to highlight and uplift the black trans voices that paved the way for us, while giving ourselves and our chosen family a big hug and letting our hair down.
What do you love most about TikTok?
I love that TikTok offers a space for specific interests to be shared, allowing people to connect through them. It acts as space to educate and entertain people with many creators combining both to engage an audience.
Why is TikTok right for your content?
TikTok is great for my content as I can respond in video form to comments. I reply sharing my love of colour and fashion and TikTok being such a visual platform allows me to do this.
What is your favourite effect or challenge?
I love experimenting with different traditions with my makeup looks. It’s super satisfying to sync up clips that are taken hours apart to create a transformation in seconds.
What is your goal on TikTok?
My goal on TikTok is to give myself and others a break from the norm and to celebrate authenticity! Being visible as a member of the LGBTQ+ community is also something that is important for me, and generally just being an advocate for doing what brings you joy and aligns with your values. I aim to show expression through Colourful styling, challenging society’s fashion rules.
What else or who else is on your TikTok For You feed?
I love that my feed is full of videos made by LGBTQ+ creators with many showcasing the incredible range of fashion and history within the community. My (not so) guilty pleasure, which I believe is shared by many is the van transformation and generally DIY renovation videos though haha
What is your favourite TikTok you have made to date and why?
My favourite TikTok I have made is probably a behind the scenes clip from a photo shoot I did. I am in my element wearing layers of frills, battling the wind, all whist entertaining passers by on the street.
