Elevating Our Diverse Communities of Women

International Women's Day is a moment to celebrate the achievements of women and advancing gender equality, while also recognizing the importance of inclusive community building for women.

Over the past year, women across the globe have continued to build connections and communities on the platform. Popular themes that continue to inspire the entire TikTok community include:

  • Women empowerment: Popular hashtags including #StrongWomen, #Her, #GirlPower, #WomeSupportingWomen continue to inspire and mobilize on TikTok, with over 3M posts. Real-world examples of women using TikTok to share their strengths and passions include @angelreese10 making moves on and off the court, @mariellegreguski encouraging body acceptance and positivity, and @mollycarlson diving from new heights.
  • Celebrating and recognizing motherhood: There have been over 16M posts in the past year mentioning #MomsOfTikTok, #MomLife, #MomTok, where the TikTok community shows love and appreciation to motherhood, while recognizing the challenges of being a mom and supporting communities of mothers. From @indigenous_baddie documenting her motherhood journey, to @oursignedworld sharing the experiences of being a deaf mother, everyday, women use their stories to build supportive communities on TikTok.
  • Entrepreneurship and women-owned businesses: Storytelling and content around #WomenOwnedBusiness, #WomeninBusiness, and #WomenEntrepreneurs showcase our community's commitment to supporting women-owned businesses and the inspiring paths of entrepreneurship. Everyday, diverse women-owned brands like @thelipsticklesbians, @ilovechamoy, and @byamicole thrive on the platform.

As a popular destination to discover and empower women-led creativity and advocacy, TikTok has unlocked boundless opportunities for women of all walks of life and made it possible for women creators to grow and make a real-world impact.

Shop and discover women-owned businesses

Women entrepreneurs and small business owners are keen to use TikTok to start and grow their businesses, and reach an engaged, passionate community. We are proud to celebrate their achievements and we invite our TikTok community to be inspired by small businesses proudly owned by women.

On TikTok, Black women business owners are seeing incredible growth — from Canvas Beauty founder Stormi Steele (@iamstormisteele), who reports over $1 million in sales on TikTok Shop alone, to @baskandlatherco CEO and founder Shaina Rainford, whose business has built a community on TikTok of over 250K+ followers, with millions of likes.

As a part of our ongoing efforts to support women-owned businesses on TikTok, throughout March, we will host a two-part virtual bootcamp to empower women founders to set up their business for success on TikTok, and accelerate their growth through developing content that converts. We're also hosting a LIVE session featuring women entrepreneurs from @urbandessertlab and @bridalbabes to share their inspirational TikTok business journeys and valuable insights on overcoming common challenges faced by business owners.
