By Brent Thomas, Global Public Policy Director - TikTok Australia and New Zealand
As millions of NSW residents face the battle against the spread of COVID-19, one of the things that has really moved our team is seeing TikTok communities unite, while adjusting to new rules and supporting one another during stay at home orders. To ensure our community stays safe and help stop the spread of COVID-19, TikTok is committed to sharing useful and credible information about how we can best fight this - together.
At TikTok, we want Australians to get back to doing what they love - safely. We know there's a lot we can't do right now, but listening to our trusted health experts and doing the right thing is one way we can all help each other during these difficult times.
With the highly transmissible COVID-19 Delta strain circulating in the community, discussion about the COVID-19 vaccine is increasing. It's more important than ever to understand the facts and have access to credible sources of information.
To honour that spirit, we are working with Dr Kerry Chant, NSW Chief Health Officer to inform and educate our community through an engaging LIVE Q&A on COVID-19 safety. The Ask Dr Chant: LIVE Q&A livestream event will be broadcast on TikTok Australia's account on Sunday 25 July at 7.00pm. A first of its kind in Australia, the TikTok LIVE will see Dr Kerry Chant answering important questions relating to COVID-19 rules across NSW and vaccinations from some of Australia's favourite TikTok creators.
We've collaborated with a diverse group of creators from different backgrounds and perspectives who are keen to learn more about COVID-safety through our TikTok Q&A. As part of this discussion, Dr Kerry Chant will be busting myths, giving her expert tips on combatting COVID-19, clarifying rules, as well as delving into some of the most burning questions from our community.
We are honoured to be working with Dr Kerry Chant to educate people locally and help stop the spread of COVID-19 in NSW. Our goal for the Ask Dr Chant: LIVE Q&A initiative is simple: provide accurate and credible information on how to combat COVID-19 and highlight the importance of getting vaccinated from a trusted expert and share in a bit of levity while at we're at it - because we could use a laugh right now.
This livestream is in-line with our commitment to combatting vaccine hesitancy and supporting the uptake of COVID-19 vaccinations across Australia as they become available to people.
We are all in this together and we know that people from all walks of life and all backgrounds have found a home on TikTok, as part of our diverse community. We're recognise the special role that we can play in helping these critically important health messages reach young people and members of our multicultural communities across NSW, and we're thrilled to be part of the effort to help beat COVID-19.
