Small businesses are the local café where you pick up a coffee on a Saturday morning, the bookstore where you find your next adventure, or the reason your home is feeling extra cosy with hand crafted candles and blankets. Day in and day out, small businesses feed us, care for us, bring us joy and often employ us, or someone we know. The pandemic has demonstrated that more than ever, our communities thrive when our small businesses thrive too.
With lockdowns still affecting much of Australia and New Zealand, and Christmas on the horizon, there has never been a better time to support small businesses that have been doing it tough. To help local brands, retailers and entrepreneurs reach new customers and kickstart their festive shopping trade, TikTok is excited to announce TikTok Made Me Buy It LIVE.
Inspired by the trending #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt hashtag, which has over 5 Billion views globally, the marathon three-hour livestreamed event will showcase some of the best and coolest, most fun and innovative, and even some of the unsung Kiwi and Australian SMBs on TikTok, to the world. Helping spotlight a host of great local small businesses and drive sales of their products in the lead-up to the festive season, TikTok Made Me Buy It LIVE is being streamed to our global community on Sunday 7 November.
TikTok are calling for Australian and Kiwi small businesses to get involved on the platform for the chance to featured as part of the special event. To be considered, fill in the registration form and post a 60 second TikTok video by Friday 1 October 2021 using the hashtag #MyBusinessPitch, promoting your product and its benefits. TikTok will then select a range of small businesses who show passion, authenticity and creative talent to be a part of TikTok Made Me Buy It LIVE, which will be livestreamed on the TikTok For Business account from 3pm - 6pm NZDT / 5pm - 8pm AEDT on Sunday 7 November 2021.
TikTok Made Me Buy It LIVE will be hosted by none other than comedy superstar and TikTok creator, Christian Hull. Known for his hilarious TikTok videos, Christian is also a small business owner who, because of the power of discovery on TikTok, is reaching people all around the world with his quirky product lines.
Speaking on the announcement Christian Hull commented:
"I am stoked to be part of this awesome initiative which will not only help SMBs out but also showcase some cool and exciting products - which you never knew you needed. I know my house is full of stuff that TikTok made me buy and I think after this livestream I will have a lot more!"
TikTok has become a key tool for Australians and Kiwis to discover local SMBs. Small businesses are a critical part of our communities, and we're committed to helping them not only recover from the challenges of the last 18 months, but grow even stronger.
