Expanding TikTok's Mental Health Education Fund and well-being features
Today, we're launching new initiatives to champion well-being and enhance reliable mental health information from trusted sources on TikTok. We're launching in-app guided meditation exercises for our entire community and expanding our Mental Health Education Fund.
Bringing in-app meditation to our entire community

We recently announced a feature test to encourage young people to switch off at night. In our testing, 98% of the teens kept the meditation experience switched on.
Research shows us that mindful meditation can improve sleep quality in people of all ages, so we'll also introduce Meditation in Sleep Hours to all our users, regardless of their age. For teens under age 18, it will be turned on by default. If a teen decides to use TikTok after 10pm, their For You feed will be interrupted by a guided meditation exercise, helping them wind down for the night. If a teen decides to spend additional time on TikTok after the first reminder, we show a second, harder to dismiss, full-screen prompt. Adults can turn on Sleep Hours at any time from the Screen Time settings page.
As part of the initiative, we’ve also partnered with TikTok creator and child psychiatrist Dr. Willough Jenkins (@drwilloughjenkins) to showcase the Meditation in Sleep Hours feature in action. Check out her video to learn why building healthy digital habits is important, and how you can use the feature to unwind at night.
Launching the 2025 Mental Health Media Education Fund

Today, we are unveiling a $2.3 million donation in ad credits to 31 mental health organizations in 22 countries around the world as part of our Mental Health Education Fund. In combination with training provided by TikTok, this funding will help these organizations create even more informative and engaging mental health content for audiences globally. In the US, the organizations benefiting from this support are:
- Alliance for Eating Disorders (@alliancefored) - National Alliance for Eating Disorders is a nonprofit organization providing education, referrals, and support
- Koko (@koko_cares) - Koko provides young people on the platforms they already use with free, evidence-based digital mental health interventions
- Crisis Text Line (@crisistextline) - Crisis Text Line provides free, 24/7 mental health support. Text TIKTOK to 741741
- Peer Health Exchange (@peerhealthexchange) - Peer Health Exchange provides youth with support, resources, and education to make healthy decisions
- Active Minds (@active_minds) - Active Minds is the largest nonprofit in the United States mobilizing youth and young adults to transform mental health norms across society
We created the Mental Health Education Fund in 2023 to support organizations in creating authoritative, engaging and uplifting mental health content. The Fund has helped organizations gain more than 173 million impressions on their content, more than 600,000 new followers for their accounts, prompted more than 200,000 web visits, and helped recruit 486 new volunteers, thanks to a combined $7.3 million in donations.
Johanna S. Kandel, Founder and CEO of National Alliance for Eating Disorders said: "TikTok has had a transformative impact on The Alliance’s reach and effectiveness. Through the platform, we connected with over 44 million people, creating an unprecedented level of awareness around eating disorders. This visibility directly translated into real-world support: allowing us to connect more individuals and families with the life-saving resources they need."
Jessica Mayorga, Chief Marketing Officer at Active Minds said: "At Active Minds, we plan to leverage the TikTok ad credits to run a diverse mix of evergreen ads focused on mental health, including promoting the importance of mental health breaks and raising awareness for our core resources. We’re also excited to spotlight our programs and initiatives that empower young people to prioritize their well-being. This approach will allow us to engage and educate audiences on TikTok, while aligning with our mission to champion a new era of mental health."
By bringing guided meditation to everyone on TikTok, and further supporting the work of mental health organizations around the world, we're once again demonstrating the positive power of the TikTok community. Whether it be through #GivingSzn charity drives, STEM feed learning moments, or responding to AMBER alerts to help recover missing children.
