More than 200 million people in Europe come to TikTok to share their passion, find community, and be inspired. We operate on the core belief that creativity and communities truly thrive when people feel safe, and today we're announcing a series of updates about how we are leveraging technology in new and innovative ways to enable this.
With over 100 million pieces of content uploaded daily to TikTok, the advancement of technologies like AI is transforming how we safeguard our platform. We believe that the best way to create positive experiences for our community is when humans and technology work together. These updates cover:
- New features to unwind, reset and get inspired on TikTok
- New transparency tools to spot, shape and understand AI generated content
- Enhanced tactics to find and remove networks of accounts dedicated to spreading hate and violence on TikTok.
Introducing new features to unwind, reset and recharge on TikTok
Today, we're announcing Time and Well-being, an industry-first space that introduces more features to help people relax and build mindful digital habits.
- Time and Well-being offers new features, including an affirmation journal, a soothing sound generator and breathing exercises.
- It features videos from creators offering practical guidance on maximising TikTok safety and well-being tools.
- It includes four brand new Well-being Missions, designed to help people develop long-term balanced digital habits by completing tasks that reinforce mindful behaviours.
Results from early testing show that more people are returning to our new Time and Well-being space compared to the previous screen time settings menu. This update builds on our ongoing work to support the safety and well-being of the TikTok community, especially teens. Teen accounts on TikTok have more than 50 preset safety, privacy, and security settings automatically turned on, so they can safely express their creativity, connect with friends, and learn on our platform.
As we look to 2026, we will be making a $100,000 contribution to the Tech Coalition SafeOnline Research Fund to support their work at the intersection of young people, researchers, and digital well-being. And as we continue testing and hearing feedback from our community, we look forward to sharing more.

AI transparency
At TikTok, we believe AI can transform how people share their creativity, discover new passions, and stay safe on our platform, when used transparently and responsibly. That's why we invest in AI-powered experiences that create value for our community, while building transparency tools to spot, shape and understand AI-generated content (AIGC). Today, we're announcing new ways to do that, including:
- Testing a new tool to help people shape the AIGC in their feed.
- A $2M educational fund for experts to make content about responsible AI.
- Testing more advanced AIGC labeling technologies.

Bringing greater transparency to how we defend against violent extremism
We're also bringing more transparency to how we are building on our long-standing efforts to combat hate and violent extremism. We are using additional tactics to find and remove networks of accounts dedicated to spreading hate and violence on TikTok. Combating groups promoting online hate and violent extremism is a long-standing societal and industry-wide challenge. That's why platforms like ours need to also constantly adapt in response, working with peers and civil society to tackle emerging and evolving threats. We're sharing more information about how we combat hateful or violent extremist behaviour on our Transparency Center. We're also announcing a partnership with the Violence Prevention Network, an organisation dedicated to stopping violent extremism, and our membership of the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism.

These updates were announced at our European Trust and Safety Forum, where we hosted journalists, creators and experts from across Europe to discuss these topics in more detail at our Dublin TikTok office.
