Every day millions of people come to TikTok to discover something new and share what they love, from finding new recipes to exciting travel destinations. Today, we're rolling out two new features that make it easier to discover, share and find inspiration together on TikTok.
Introducing Shared Collection on TikTok
For years, TikTok has enabled people to save content in collections, like their #BookTok reading lists, local restaurants to try, or must-have beauty items. To make this feature even more helpful, we've introduced Shared Collection, a new way to share and organise TikTok content in one place with friends or family. Shared Collections helps people organise everything they discover on TikTok, from home projects to holiday spots; simply save a shared video to a collection to access it together at any time.
How Shared Collections Work
- Start a collection with a friend or family member by selecting the option when saving a video or accessing your existing collections.
- Once an invite is accepted, they can change the name of the collection and start saving their favourite TikTok content together.
- Collections can stay just between friends and family, or they can be made available to the TikTok community, so others can discover posts too.
- Shared Collection is available globally to those with accounts who are aged over 16.
A new way to discover content together
Ever wish you could get a glimpse of someone else's For You Feed? Well now you can with our new Shared Feed feature! This feature is a new way for friends and families to watch and enjoy TikTok content together though a shared interest-based feed in direct messaging. Shared Feed can help two people stay connected by surfacing new content tailored to both of their tastes, from sports to holiday winter activities and even their favourite fashion creators.
Each day, friends and family members will find a curated selection of 15 videos in their private chat aligned with their interests. Each Shared Feed is unique to the people who join it, and videos are generated based on their TikTok activity, such as what they like, watch, and comment on.
How Shared Feed Works
- A Shared Feed begins once an invitation is accepted. An invitation does not have to be accepted, and someone can leave a Shared Feed at anytime.
- Once the invitation is accepted, a Shared Feed is created and generates 15 videos daily to explore and chat about. You can then also message, comment and like the videos.
- After each person watches all the daily videos, they can then view their mutual likes and shared history, such as what videos they both liked.
We're always building products with safety in mind to support positive moments among friends and family. As usual, the TikTok videos in Shared Collections and Shared Feeds must adhere to our Community Guidelines. In addition, these features are available in Direct Messages, which is not available to those with accounts that are under 16. Parents and guardians can manage their teens' DMs through Family Pairing.
