From breaking stigmas tied to mental health, to sharing impactful stories and resources to support those in need of help, communities dedicated to mental health awareness continue to thrive on TikTok. This World Mental Health Day and beyond, we're recognising and celebrating our community's strength, courage and resilience, acknowledging that we are all Better Together when we help each other improve and prioritize our mental well-being.
Partnering with mission-driven organisations to champion mental health and well-being
As we continue to provide our community access to information and resources around mental well-being, we also work with partners and mission-driven organisations around the world to raise awareness of mental health challenges. This World Mental Health Day, TikTok partnered with the Rare Impact Fund by sponsoring the inaugural Rare Impact Fund Benefit with a donation of $250,000 to support the organisation's global work. The Benefit, which was held on October 4, raised funds and illuminated the importance of organizations that expand access to mental health services and education for young people around the world. The Rare Impact Fund was created by Selena Gomez as part of her commitment to addressing mental health and self-acceptance.
"At the Rare Impact Fund, we are inspired by young people using their voices to share their personal and impactful mental health stories on social media by meeting them where they are every day. We're delighted to continue working with companies like TikTok who support our mission to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and inspire more positive conversations around mental health and self-acceptance. Together, we look forward to increasing access to mental health education and resources, and empowering young people everywhere to embrace their own mental health journeys."
- Elyse Cohen, Vice President of Social Impact & Inclusion at Rare Beauty and President of the Rare Impact Fund
The global TikTok community continues to foster a safe and positive space for conversations about mental health and well-being, with topics related to #MentalHealth, #SelfCare and #MentalHealthAwareness garnering 100+ billion, 50+ billion and 25+ billion views, respectively, to date.
Throughout October, we invite our community in Singapore to share encouraging stories and personal well-being journeys, using the hashtags #MentalHealthAwareness. You can also learn from fellow mental health advocates, connect with organisations and access essential resources through our Digital Wellness Hub.
Additionally, in partnership with local non-profit organisation Limitless, we have introduced the "Mental Health MythBusters" filter. With this filter, users can embark on a journey of discovery to uncover the truth about mental wellness - an engaging and informative way to challenge misconceptions and promote accurate understanding of mental health.
At TikTok, we remain committed to supporting our community's mental health and well-being on our platform and beyond. We encourage everyone to learn more about and promote #MentalHealthAwareness so we can all be Better Together throughout our journey.
