With three years as the Official Partner of Festival de Cannes to bring the #TikTokShortFilm competition to life, our presence at Sundance Film Festival, and even here at home, with Singapore's very own Comic Con, TikTok's support of the entertainment industry is undeniable. Hand in hand with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, this year we are also bringing one of the biggest nights in entertainment to our global community — the 96th Academy Awards. We're thrilled to continue to provide creators with an opportunity to be discovered by over 1 billion people around the world, while making an impact on the film and entertainment industry's biggest projects and events.

#FilmTok - where cultural moments like the Oscars turn into cultural movements - highlights a community of creators who are hard at work predicting and analysing everything about the awards, from industry insiders who make and pull back the curtain on the movies we love, to the studios that bring us our favorite films ahead of award season. The influential community creates a collaborative environment where movie fans share, learn, and engage with their favorite films and entertainers. With 1.7M total posts — an over 70% increase compared to last year — #FilmTok and #MovieTok's influence on the entertainment industry cannot be understated. We applaud the creativity and impact of our community all year long, but are especially excited to see how their entertaining, insightful, and educational videos come to life during the upcoming awards season.

This year, #FilmTok rallied around movie aesthetics, story plots, songs and sounds, creating trends and building appreciation for some of this year's nominees. While "Barbenheimer" focused on combining the antithetical aesthetics of Best Picture nominees Barbie and Oppenheimer, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse sparked trends based around the movie's plot as seen in the "Canon Event" trend, which has inspired more than 68K posts globally.

Throughout awards season, nominees and entertainment personalities continue to bring fans alongside with them. Best Supporting Actress nominee Danielle Brooks (@thedanieb) has been documenting her award season experience on TikTok, showcasing fashion looks and speeches from earlier this season, host Jimmy Kimmel (@jimmykimmellive) is sharing several interviews with notable nominees ahead of the big night, and we're keeping an eye on Francesca Scorsese (@francescascorsese) to see if her legendary father, Martin, makes an appearance before finding out if he's won for Killers of the Flower Moon.

For the first time, we're bringing #FilmTok to life as the official co-host of The Hollywood Reporter's Nominees Night party in West Hollywood, celebrating the hard work and success of past and present nominees. In addition to Nominees Night, we're hosting a group of local and international creators for an official TikTok watch parties in Los Angeles and around the world — where they can discuss film analysis, red carpet looks, and predictions together in person.

In Singapore, we gathered 80 creators from across Asia Pacific at a pre-awards show event, with a Glambot, red carpet photo spots, and content creation zones that will celebrate Asian Representation in Entertainment for #Oscars 2024. We also held a trivia quiz on all things film, and discussed predictions on winners.

Celebrating entertainment on TikTok and beyond

The next generation of entertainers and film critics is on TikTok: from red carpet hosts Joe and Yasmine, to industry connoisseurs like Priscilla Raintung (@cillacillo_) and Jessica Natania (@ccnatania); to film enthusiasts like Mick Pilgrim (@mickpilgrim), Taiga Okawa (@tiger0kawa), Aaron Maniego (@maniegogogo) and Liry Onni (@liryonni); the creativity and opportunity for discovery on TikTok provides creators and partners continued growth opportunities — creating real-world impact that is unlocked at a pace unmatched by any other platform.

We're excited to see #FilmTok come to life around the 96th Oscars through film predictions, fashion commentary, and more. Be sure to search "Oscars" on TikTok to view the in-app Oscars Hub and experience the magic of awards night with us.
