Donates INR 30 crore to PM CARES Fund
Over the past couple of weeks, TikTok launched an in-app quiz called, “Kheloge Aap, Jeetega India,” with an aim to bring the TikTok community together, build awareness around the spread of coronavirus and mobilize the community by facilitating donations to the PM CARES Fund.
The in-app quiz aimed to:
Educate: users with the correct information & preventative measures about COVID-19
Engage: to participate in the quiz and to share it with their friends and family
Empower: by encouraging users to take the quiz and answer COVID-19 related questions, with a promise that TikTok would donate to the PM Care Fund. This ultimately increased participation and inspired users to be a part of donation themselves.
The quiz was available to users in eleven local languages, and within just 5 days, received over 7 million entries from TikTok users across the country. We have been encouraged by the support and enthusiasm for this initiative, and are now donating over 10x of our original pledge. Our total donation to the PM CARES Fund now amounts to INR 30 crore and commemorates the overwhelming response to our efforts by users.
This donation is part of our continued endeavour to support the nation and our communities in the fight against COVID-19. Since February 2020, TikTok has undertaken several initiatives to create awareness about safety measures related to COVID-19, such as the in-app awareness initiatives #GharBaithoIndia, #FightTheDarkness, #JanataCurfew and by elevating the content shared by credible partners such as MyGov, PIB, WHO, UNDP India and UNICEF India on the platform. TikTok is committed to playing its part in the global outpouring of mutual support and giving.
We have been humbled to see businesses, governments,NGOs, and people across the globe rallying together to extend their support to India's fight against COVID-19 and we are happy to be part of these efforts during these challenging times.
As a socially responsible platform, we are committed to supporting the safety and well-being of people through our platform. We deeply appreciate and thank our users for coming forward to spread awareness and contribute to India’s fight against COVID-19.
