Next up on our creator spotlights this month we have @fuddermuckinfood. Colum McGrath is a Dad from County Limerick who joined the TikTok community in 2023. Colum’s page has everything from restaurant reviews to his mission of finding the best spice bag in Ireland! More recently, Colum has even started uploading his own recipes - including his incredible taco chips. Read more below!

Q: What inspired you to start sharing your food journey on TikTok?
A: Two things….my love of creating content, and my love of food. I didn’t think a 44-year-old Dad of three could find a platform for the type of content I create, but I’m happy to be wrong on this one. The TikTok community is a supportive bunch and I’m thrilled with the reaction I’ve been getting. I never thought it would lead to so many food invites and being asked for selfies in supermarkets. This is all new to me! My teenage children are amused by it all!

@fuddermuckinfood I was Lidl in Castletroy this evening and saw snails on sale for €2.99!! So I had to give them a go.... @lidlireland #snails #escargot #lidl #ireland #fyp ♬ Little Things - Tiqta

Q: What #FoodTok trends are you currently seeing on TikTok? A: Most of my FYP is food content. In terms of trends, I love the fakeaway recipes, I love how “inventive” the likes of @nasti_2k are with what he does. I also love when creators like myself go on the search for something…like the best spice bag in a certain area.

Q: What is your favourite thing about being part of the #TikTokFood community?
A: My single favourite thing about being part of the #TikTokFood community is how supportive the followers are, and how much ownership they take of my content and recommendations.

@fuddermuckinfood Does @Chefjimmylee do it best? I've yet to find one that looks as good as this, in Limerick! #spicebag #limerick #takeaway #fyp ♬ Little Things - Tiqta

Q: What new ingredients or cooking techniques have you discovered through #FoodTok that you now love using? A: My content began with no cooking at all, but I’ve slowly brought some cooking videos to my platform. I can now make my own homemade spice bag. I did taco chips and followers seemed to really enjoy that, plus the auld crispy homemade air-fried chips went down a treat.

Q: What are the top three restaurants or food locations you have shared on TikTok? A: In no particular order, my top 3 are…Jilly and Joe’s, Bunratty, The Treehouse at the Woodland’s Hotel in Adare and Ryan’s Fish & Chips, Ennis.

@fuddermuckinfood I'm recording a series for Clare FM at the moment, and one of my stops was here at Wilde Irish Chocolate in Tuamgraney in East Clare! Check out this real live chocolate factory 🤌🏻 #chocolate #factory #tuamgraney #clare #foodtok #artisan #fyp ♬ Little Things - Tiqta

Q: What is your favourite #FoodTok recipe you have shared on TikTok to date and why? A: I make these savage air fryer chips, and when I shared my recipe it seemed to have gone down well. I grew up watching TV Chefs and never for a second thought I’d ever be advising people on food from my little kitchen in county Limerick.

Q: What other #FoodTok creators are on your For You feed? A: In terms of Irish creators, @nasti_2k, @edgarkirby and @scaseyfitness are for the win! But I love anyone who goes out, tries something new, and gives an honest review or recommendation afterwards!
