TikTok creator spotlight @enchantednanny
From #pregnancy through to #raisingteens, parents of all stages are sharing their experiences on TikTok. This community is all about raw, unfiltered perspectives on parenting, as well as support and companionship for others on their parenting journey.
Last month, we launched our new #ParentsofTikTok campaign to celebrate this community, and as part of it we have recognised an amazing range of creators, who are using TikTok to inspire, support and educate their communities. One of our #ParentsofTikTok ambassadors is @enchantednanny!
Danielle is a baby expert and nanny that has gained over 615,000 followers with her around the clock baby and parenting tips. From newborn clothing hacks, to baby burping tips and collick relief, there's a lesson for every #newparent on her feed.
First, congratulations on being named as a #ParentsofTikTok ambassador. When did you first start creating parenting content on TikTok?
Thank you! It’s already been such an adventure. I started to create content around two years ago, after the birth of my fourth child.
Were you surprised by the reaction from the community?
What surprised me more was the community itself. I had no idea just how many parents and families used the app, and how it had become such a huge pinnacle of support and advice.
I felt, and continue to feel, honoured to have been fully accepted as a part of such an important and rapidly growing community and continuously inspired by those within it.
What other parenting creators on TikTok do you follow?
One of my all time favourite creators is actually a fellow Parents of TikTok Ambassador - Louise Thompson (@louiseptsd - 63.6k followers) - I admire her hugely. She talks with such grace about post-natal mental health and ptsd. As a mother that has walked a similar path, I am a huge advocate and supporter of those that address post-natal mental health on large platforms. The positive ripples caused by sharing these experiences can prompt many to reach out and source help and support and this should be applauded.
What is your favourite TikTok video you have made to date and why?
Definitely the video that I created to combat colic and wind in newborns. It has helped, and continues to help, so many babies, parents and even grandparents. I’m mostly just proud when I have created a piece of content that has helped to inform parents, and to also help them to feel less alone in their parenting journey.
What else is on your feed?!
Lots of safety and pregnancy tips, newborn information and hacks. I sprinkle everything with a nice dose of real life stuff that I go through as a mum of four and throw in some budget friendly hints and tips for families too!
Finally, if there was one piece of advice you could give to new parents, what would it be?
You can only learn to hear your ‘inner parent voice’ in quiet. Space must be made for that. Remember to pause, breathe, slow down, and shut out unnecessary noise. That voice - that instinct - is there, it just needs space and quiet. Also, wet wipes can be used to clean literally ANYTHING. You learn this quickly when you become a parent. Take them wherever you go, stash them all over the house and car!
