Electronic Music has been getting people moving on TikTok.

Known as one of our most popular genres, #ElectronicMusic is a firm favourite on TikTok, with the hashtag garnering over 1.7 billion views and playing host to content from a diverse range of established and emerging artists who are bringing the beat to our global community.

We first put a spotlight on #ElectronicMusic back in August 2021, with the likes of Carl Cox and TSHA releasing special guest playlists, while Disclosure performed live from their tour bus on TikTok. Now we're taking it even further to give the decks to the next generation of electronic music talent.

Relaunch of #ElectronicMusic

Today we're relaunching #ElectronicMusic, the second in a series of evergreen Genre Hashtags to be placed centre stage on TikTok UK. Preceeded by the launch of #Rap in April, #ElectronicMusic will become the central place for music fans on TikTok to discover and celebrate the content, culture, artists, creators and sounds across Electronic and Dance.

London-born DJ and singer songwriter, Shygirl will be fronting the campaign, hot off the announcement of her debut album 'Nymph'. Shygirl is no stranger to TikTok hits after her Dance track, UCKERS went viral last year. Since then she's been using TikTok to drop new music and show her life on and off tour with her fans.

Electronic music is more diverse than ever, with dance music emerging from a huge range of artists, DJs and producers on TikTok. Shygirl leads a new generation of talent in dance and electronic music, with increasing numbers of female DJs sharing their music in-app and using TikTok to access a global community of fans. TSHA, Aluna, Jyoty, AmyElle, Jayda G & Nia Archives are just some of the women DJs building loyal followings on TikTok, making it the place to be to hear from up and coming artists in the Electronic arena.

This marks the start of a regular celebration of the Electronic music community, with #ElectronicMusic now being promoted every single month on TikTok in the UK.

Speaking on being the face of Electronic music this month, Shygirl said: "So sweet to be the featured artist on the #electronicmusic hashtag this month! 💞 Electronic music on TikTok is all about great vibes and sounds, with loads of awesome women DJs sharing their beats, remixing tracks and being part of a community. I love seeing fans connect with the music I’ve made! Can’t wait to share more stuff from my debut album 'Nymph' 🦋 it’s emotional but still shy, lol."

Kira Ashwin, UK Label Partnerships at TikTok said: "It's incredible to see how much Electronic music has grown on TikTok in the last year alone, led by a hugely talented group of female DJs who are taking our community by storm. With the relaunch of our #ElectronicMusic campaign, we want to put a spotlight on the emerging artists who are spinning the decks at home, in clubs and at festivals in the UK and around the world. Artists like Shygirl and Jyoty are setting the example, using TikTok to experiment with sounds, drop new tracks and connect with an audience that goes beyond the club. We can't wait to see the creativity, content and culture that will no doubt emerge in this year's celebration of #ElectronicMusic."
