This Safer Internet Day, we're excited to launch a new in-app hub for our TikTok community across Europe, the UK, and Israel. Packed with tips, tools, and resources, it's the perfect guide to staying safe and in control while creating, connecting, and scrolling on TikTok. Building on last year's success, which saw over a million visits to our hub, this resource will help our community control their online world.
Here's how you can take control:
Elevate your account settings
We have plenty of tools to keep your TikTok experience secure, such as:
- Account settings: Control who can discover your account and who can see your content. Or, decide with your teen with Family Pairing;
- Community controls: Decide who can follow or message you, comment, share, and interact with your content;
- Content controls: Filter keywords, tap "Not Interested", or enable Restricted Mode for tailored recommendations.
Be kind and positive
TikTok thrives on kindness! Look out for others, report harmful content, avoid sharing or liking anything unkind or suspicious and consider if you can share something supportive for our community. We don't tolerate bullying or hate, and we remove it when we find it.
Think critically about content
We work with fact-checkers to help ensure the content you see in your For You Feed is accurate and reliable. If something feels suspicious or misleading, report it—don't engage.
Your screen, your time
Find your digital balance with tools like the Screen Time Dashboard and Screen Time Breaks. Understand your habits, adjust your settings, and disconnect when you need to.
Our community will receive a push notification about the #safertogether hub, where they can explore how they can control their settings. We've also enlisted the help of beloved TikTok creators Coco Omer and Benjy Kusi to help raise awareness on the importance of digital wellbeing. Watch their videos below to hear about how they scroll smarter.
While Safer Internet Day is a great reminder to prioritise online safety, this commitment is at TikTok's core year-round. From removing harmful content to continuously investing billions in Trust and Safety, we are dedicated to keeping TikTok a safe space for everyone.
