TikTok is launching the #WomenWhoWow hashtag challenge to celebrate International Women’s Day 2020.

International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Taking place on 8 March, International Women’s Day 2020 has selected #EachforEqual as this year’s theme.

#EachForEqual encourages people to build a gender-equal world from the boardrooms of the workplace to music festival line-ups and the halls of government by championing ‘collective individualism’:

“We are all parts of a whole. Our individual actions, conversations, behaviours and mindsets can have an impact on our larger society. Collectively, we can make change happen. Collectively, we can each help to create a gender-equal world. We can all choose to be #EachforEqual.” - International Women’s Day 2020

At TikTok, we’re asking YOU to join the movement...

The #WomenWhoWow Challenge

We all have important women in our lives. So, whether it’s your Mum, Sister, best friend, girlfriend, colleague or boss - it’s time to let the world know about them with #WomenWhoWow!

We’re inviting creators and musicians from the TikTok platform to introduce and talk about the most inspiring women in their lives.

As always, we want to see you flex your creative muscles, but feel free to use the following prompts for your video:

Who are they?

  1. What’s key to their ‘WOW’ factor?
  2. Can you tell us a moment when their inspiration was most important?
  3. What do they mean to you?

We know the TikTok community are capable of incredible things - if we can help Lil Nas X get ‘Old Town Road’ to the top of the charts, we can help to make International Women’s Day 2020 the biggest and most empowering yet!

How to get involved in TikTok's IWD 2020 #WomenWhoWow hashtag challenge

Getting involved in a TikTok hashtag challenge is easy! When you push your video live, just be sure to add the #WomenWhoWow hashtag to your description.

There will be a #WomenWhoWow takeover on the Sounds Page so you can soundtrack your videos using music from the world’s top female musicians, artists and creators.

Your videos will be compiled in a special TikTok film that we’ll be distributing to celebrate the day. We can’t wait to hear about the women who inspire you!
