TikTok has today been announced as the headline partner of EGX 2023, our latest move to celebrate and grow the gaming community on TikTok.
Taking place between 12–15 October, EGX is the UK’s biggest video game fan convention, bringing together thousands of passionate gamers for a four-day spectacle at ExCeL London.
Together, TikTok and EGX will create unmissable fan experiences throughout the show, from exclusive game stations and live play, to a variety of competitions and other activations.
This includes the Creator Lounge, where fans will have the chance to meet and game alongside top TikTok gaming creators Nick and Cam (@ItsNickandCam), Charlotte Murphy (@Tigressx) and Callum Knight (@CPK). Creators will also be exploring the show floor at EGX, checking out all the major stands and creating content to share with their millions of followers around the world.
Rollo Goldstaub, Head of Sport and Gaming UKI and Nordics at TikTok, said: “TikTok is home to a richly diverse community of gamers who are showing up on the platform every day, connecting with each other and sharing all the moments that make playing games so enjoyable, from unbelievable skills to entertaining reactions.
“EGX is the perfect celebration of everything gaming has to offer, bringing together players, creators, fans and the entire industry. Following our successful presence last year, we can’t wait to be back in October as the headline partner and share this landmark event with TikTok’s global audience.”
"TikTok is a dream partner for EGX,” said Jenny Martin, Event Director, ReedPop, the company operating EGX. “Our shared passion for gaming and bringing video game communities together make it a perfect match, and together we’ll make this year’s EGX a show to remember, with more than ever for attendees to enjoy.”
The gaming community on TikTok continues to evolve and grow, connecting gamers from around the world through gameplay, tutorials, cosplay and memes. Watching, creating, and engaging with gaming content on TikTok is on the rise: hashtags like #Gaming (488 billion views), #GamingOnTikTok (60 billion views), #GamingSetup (15.6 billion views) or #GamingLife (9.2 billion views) are growing in popularity every day
EGX 2023 will give fans the opportunity to play the latest games and attend fascinating panels, talks and sessions from the industry’s top creative minds, while also discovering indie gems in the Rezzed Zone and The Leftfield Collection. Among the many activities taking place is the annual Sea of Thieves panel, where developers and fans will converge to discuss Rare’s popular pirate-inspired action-adventure game.
Gamers can also visit the GI Academy for career advice from industry experts, watch or get involved in the returning EGX Cosplay Championship, and enjoy various e-sports tournaments taking place over the four days.
Use the #EGX hashtag to get involved in the action and stay tuned for more as we count down to October!
