Calling all classical and film score lovers! 🎹🎻

At TikTok, we love to celebrate the diverse range of music that takes off on our platform every day. That's why we have launched our hashtag, #ClassicalMusic, to spotlight the talented artists and musicians who are shaping the genre and creating incredible classical music on TikTok.

As part of the launch, we are releasing a very special guest playlist from one of the most respected film composers in the world, Academy Award-winner Hans Zimmer. Hans Zimmer is a firm favourite on TikTok, with his #DuneMovieDuet challenge, where he encouraged creators to duet his video playing 'Paul's Dream'. His playlist will be available on our Sounds Page.

Hans Zimmer’s playlist includes iconic scores from blockbuster smashes like Gladiator, The Lion King, & Pirates of the Caribbean as well as sounds that have inspired him throughout his illustrious career, such as Once Upon a Time in the West by Ennio Morricone, There Will Be Blood & his take on the Bond theme song, No Time to Die with Billie Eilish.

You can check out Hans Zimmer's playlist here.

Speaking on his new playlist, Hans Zimmer said: “I’ve always believed that the next generation has an extraordinary creative voice and I’ve been fortunate enough to witness and experience this throughout my career. I’m thrilled to launch this playlist of specially curated songs on TikTok. I hope people will use the playlist to create content that inspires another generation of artists to continue evoking emotion through music.”

@hanszimmer I’m thrilled to share my TikTok #ClassicalMusic playlist! To see it, click Camera Mode and press 'Sounds' at the top… or as I prefer to call it, the thingy doo-dah. And, watch until the end for “Time”! #piano #inception #filmmusic #inthestudio ♬ original sound - Hans Zimmer

Celebrating #ClassicalMusic

The hashtag #ClassicalMusic already has a whopping 2 billion views, with trending classical tracks like 'Cornfield Chase' by Dorian Marko taking the platform by storm. We've also seen pioneering artists such as Andrew Lloyd Webber, Alexis Ffrench, Anna Lapwood, Esther Abrami and Lang Lang use TikTok to interact with fans and share exclusive behind-the-scenes content with the community.

Earlier this year, we launched TikTok Classics with Warner Music, a world-first TikTok album that included 18 of the biggest TikTok hits classically arranged and newly recorded by the internationally renowned Babelsberg Film Orchestra of Germany. The album was a hit with the TikTok community, who loved the orchestral versions of iconic hits like 'Oh No', 'Body (Remix)', 'Wellerman Sea Shanty' and 'Pieces'. These classical versions have already inspired more than 550k creations, accumulating more than 400 million views.

How to get involved on TikTok

The #ClassicalMusic hashtag will launch on Friday 4th November and call on creators to share their talents, practice their instruments, compose new music and duet other artists in celebration of classical music. The hashtag will also act as a hub for our community to discover the best emerging and established classical artists, content and culture.

Finally, we have organised a special LIVE performance this month with Lang Lang! The internationally acclaimed virtuoso pianist will go LIVE on Monday 7th November at 7pm CET.

Speaking on the launch of #ClassicalMusic, Lisa Skeppner, Music Partnerships at TikTok said: “TikTok is the creative home of all genres of music and classical has been taking off on platform. It's been so inspiring to see the community embrace both emerging and established artists in the genre. Now with the launch of #ClassicalMusic, we can showcase that musical diversity to the world's most creative community. I’d like to thank Hans Zimmer for curating such a brilliant playlist and being our featured artist and can’t wait to see how the community gets creative with the brilliant sounds that have been made available.”
