TikTok Canada: Canadians Supporting Canadians
At TikTok Canada, our priority is to support and amplify the voices that make our country one of a kind.
We are a team of hundreds of local TikTok employees who are passionate about Canada's culture, who speak Canada's languages, and who understand our business environment.
Every day, our team works to provide Canadian creators with the tools, opportunities and resources they need to grow their audiences, help businesses reach new customers, and support artists in sharing their talent with the world. From coast-to-coast-to-coast, we take pride in celebrating the diverse, dynamic voices that define Canada’s creative community, turning passion into success and creativity into meaningful impact.
We're excited to launch our new campaign, Canadians Supporting Canadians, which showcases the impact of our local employees by sharing stories of how they have played a direct role in the success of Canadian creators.
Unfortunately, TikTok Canada's ability to continue its local work supporting creators is at risk, as the previous federal government ordered TikTok to shut down its Canadian operations. While the TikTok app will remain available for Canadians, this order eliminates hundreds of well-paying local jobs at our Toronto and Vancouver offices, as well as investments that are valuable to our economy.
We think that Canadian creators, artists and small businesses deserve a local team to support them. Our Canadian team members are passionate about Canada's culture, understand our society and history, and speak our languages. They understand the needs of Canadian creators, and are here to champion their success and elevate them on our platform.
Over the past handful of years, TikTok Canada's team has shown up as part of national moments like the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), JUNO Awards, Buffer Festival, Leafs and Raptors games. We've created programs like the TikTok Accelerator for Indigenous Creators, presented by the National Screen Institute, TikTok SmallBiz Pop-Up, presented by TD, and worked with organizations like Anorexie et boulimie Québec (ANEB), Kid's Help Phone and MediaSmarts, to support the well-being and media literacy of our community.
We're just getting started when it comes to amplifying and elevating Canadians on TikTok. The new government in Ottawa has an opportunity to find a solution that addresses security concerns, preserves local jobs and economic investment, and allows us to continue contributing to a thriving community of Canadian creators and small businesses.
