Meet Gloria Ngcobo, a vibrant fitness star from Hillcrest, lighting up TikTok with her joyful dances and passion for running.
What inspired you to start creating content on TikTok?
My partner encouraged me to share a piece of content that showcased my personality because it was funny. Little did I know that posting that one video would mark the beginning of my journey as a content creator and influencer.
How do you use TikTok to support or inspire other women, and what impact have you seen from these efforts?
I love this question because the women I inspire are a major source of motivation for me! I believe I encourage women through my passion for running and my overall lifestyle shared on TikTok. Every day, I receive beautiful and uplifting messages from women who share their stories and tell me how I’ve inspired them to embrace love, joy, and appreciation for their bodies through movement.
What challenges have you faced as a female creator, and how have you navigated or overcome these obstacles?
This always tugs at my heartstrings. I’ve noticed that many negative comments often come from other women. It seems society has certain expectations for how women should behave, leading to comments like ‘Please sit down,’ ‘It’s always the pretty ones,’ ‘She’s probably psycho,’ ‘You’re so childish,’ or ‘You can’t dance, sit down.’
Despite this, I remind myself that I am not defined by societal standards. I’ve worked hard to embrace and be true to myself. While these comments may sting for a moment, I usually move past them quickly and continue to focus on being the best version of ME.
How do you stay authentic and true to yourself while navigating trends and expectations within your industry or online community?
Every day, I pray for God’s guidance to help me bring love, light, and joy to the world. I also take great care in choosing brand collaborations, ensuring they align with my values and brand. Even when faced with tempting financial opportunities, I remain committed to staying true to my principles.
On Women’s Day, what message or advice would you offer women pursuing their own creative and entrepreneurial goals?
One thing that I would say to the members of my community and fellow aspiring creators would be to just start! Even if you don’t have the courage, close your eyes and just start! You will gain courage along the way!
