What inspired you to get involved in creating the PRIDE by Creators Effect on TikTok?
Taking action and contributing to anything queer brings me immense satisfaction. I was inspired by the presence of beautiful queer individuals in the room when the idea for the Pride Effect came about.
Seeing people develop their ideas and collectively create something remarkable was truly beautiful. I hope users feel empowered to be both queer and bold. The Pride Effect is a celebration of our authenticity. It serves as a reminder that Pride Month is our time to shine.
Can you tell us about the creative process behind developing the PRIDE by Creators Effect? What were your main objectives and considerations?
The creative process took place in a room filled with talented individuals. While many ideas were being discussed, we managed to avoid any disasters. We had a lot of fun during the process. Laughter and expressions filled the room, making the entire experience comfortable and enjoyable.
I hope the PRIDE by Creators Effect will showcase South Africans' involvement in the LGBTQIA+ movement. It's young creatives in this space who are looking to inspire others and make a positive impact on TikTok.
What does it mean to you personally to have a dedicated effect that celebrates Pride on TikTok?
Having a dedicated effect, especially one that I had a say in, means the world to me. It feels incredibly special to be at the forefront of the community and have the opportunity to lead. It makes me feel like we are doing the right thing to ensure our community is recognized and heard.
How do you envision the PRIDE by Creators Effect contributing to the larger conversation around LGBTQIA+ representation and acceptance in South Africa?
Encouraging people to use the effect becomes a powerful tool for visibility and representation. It sends a clear message that, as queer individuals, we are determined to shine brighter and make our presence known in larger spaces. It's a way of showcasing the work we are putting in to create a more inclusive society.
Can you share any insights or stories from the LGBTQIA+ community that inspired you during the creation of the PRIDE by Creators Effect?
The vibrant colours and the boldness displayed by queer individuals were significant inspirations. Witnessing the visibility and fearlessness of the LGBTQIA+ community in action was truly inspiring. Having resources like the Pride Effect that contribute to the community's visibility is incredibly powerful. It reassures us that society is accepting and normalizes our presence. The Pride Effect will undoubtedly reaffirm creators on TikTok and foster a stronger sense of belonging.
How will you be celebrating Pride Month this year?
This month is not only Pride Month, but it's also my birthday month. My exciting plans include going out, creating content and photoshoots, and giving back to the community. I'll also release my debut single dedicated to the queer community. It's a month filled with anticipation and excitement. I also plan to showcase my full glam and have fun using the Pride Effect. It's all about enjoying the moment and embracing the joy that comes with it. I encourage others to do the same and celebrate with us.
