How do you use TikTok to raise awareness about mental health issues or to provide support and inspiration to those facing mental health challenges?

Coming from someone like me who endured verbal and physical abuse during my upbringing, I aim to convey that happiness and motivation are attainable. Lastly, reminding them that they are not alone in their struggles is crucial. I strive to be sensitive to my surroundings, avoiding insensitivity and ensuring I don't alienate any part of my audience.

World Mental Health Day aims to break the stigma around mental health. What can the creative community do to contribute to a more open and understanding conversation about mental health?

The creative community has made significant contributions. They consistently bring joy to my life, especially during tough times when I peruse content creators' pages. They have a unique way of lifting my spirits without directly urging me to "be happy." However, they should increase their openness about mental health, encourage free mental health screenings, engage in awareness events, and promote kindness and compassion through their content, whether the camera is rolling or not. These are the values I advocate for and strive to embody myself.

Which TikTok creators do you believe bring positivity to the platform?

I have so many favorites, and listing them all would take forever. Among them are dance creators like Popo Spidey and Krystal, who infuse their dance content with so much positivity that you can't help but wish you could dance like them. Then, lifestyle creators like Beauty Goddess, Iremi De, Kathy Opsy, and ms_yudee make even the most complex tasks seem effortless in our part of the country. I also have a special place for happiness content creators like King Bira, Kiki, and Mr. Macaroni; they're the go-to for a good laugh and a break from sorrows. And, of course, don't forget to check me out – Abike Shuga. Yes, I'm proud to toot my own horn!

Many creators feel pressured to produce content and engage with their audience constantly. How do you balance your creative work and taking time for self-care and mental health?

As a content creator, juggling shooting, posting, and engaging with your audience is tough - prioritise planning and time management for balance. Refrain from assuming what works for others will work for you; find your unique approach. I also encourage you not to disregard your friends, especially the cherished ones. In this generation, many advocate for solitude, claiming they don't care about others and prefer to be alone. However, this notion is a fallacy. My manager has consistently reminded me that we cannot navigate life in isolation, and this is an undeniable truth. There are moments when you require friends to confide in, to share happiness with, and to create cherished memories together. Maintain a positive circle. Eat healthily and take breaks for your well-being. Remember, life continues with or without you, so rest and seek medical checkups when necessary.

What strategies or self-care practices do you incorporate into your daily routine to maintain good mental health while pursuing your creative endeavours? Any tips or advice for fellow creators on managing their mental well-being

First of all, I would always say this: regardless of where I am, I always put God first. Let God be your pillar before you do anything. Always remember that you have somebody superior who will always listen to you regardless of whatever it is that you're going through. Second, practice contentment with what you have to enhance discipline and resilience. Third, be intentional about your actions, how your brand is perceived, and the company you keep, as they can shape your path. Lastly, affirmations may seem unrealistic to some, but they work wonders. Each morning, remind yourself of your worth and potential, regardless of your challenges.
