TikTok Shop and KPDN Launch Cost-of-Living Relief With Reduced Commission Fees on Essentials and Discounted Shipping in Malaysia

TikTok Shop and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) collaborated on a suite of economic support for Malaysian merchants and consumers by reducing commission fees on essentials, providing nationwide shipping rebates, and offering discounts on daily necessities. The initiative was launched today during Pesta #JomLokal, officiated by the Minister of KPDN.

Nur Azre Abdul Aziz, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships at TikTok Shop Malaysia, underscored: "We believe in leveraging our e-commerce ecosystem to create meaningful socioeconomic impact that will have a positive ripple effect across the value chain. By launching this cost-of-living relief, TikTok Shop has invested over RM180 million directly in the local communities we serve. It will help absorb some of the operational costs of local businesses and alleviate the cost of living for Malaysian households, while also stimulating income opportunities for employees of local MSMEs, logistics frontliners, agency partners, and affiliate creators."

As part of the initiative, TikTok Shop has expanded its commission fee waivers to 5 new essential goods marketplace sub-categories, enabling local businesses across a total of 56 eligible sub-categories to enjoy 0% commission. New eligible sub-categories include milk, powdered milk, yogurt, fermented dairy products, and more. Seller commission fees across 39 other essential sub-categories have also been reduced by about 0.5 up to 9.1 percentage points. Malaysian shoppers will also enjoy more affordable deliveries as sellers are provided with an RM2 rebate per order to lower shipping costs nationwide.

YB Datuk Armizan bin Mohd Ali, Minister of KPDN, commended the initiative: "The government remains committed to ensuring economic growth translates into tangible benefits for the rakyat, particularly through efforts that strengthen affordability, support entrepreneurship, and create inclusive opportunities. We welcome this proactive collaboration by TikTok Shop to help alleviate Malaysians' cost of living and stimulate domestic trade. It demonstrates how digital platforms can complement national efforts to empower local MSMEs to participate sustainably in the digital economy and elevate the purchasing power of everyday Malaysians."

In a joint effort with KPDN to further ease household expenses across 2026, TikTok Shop became the first e-commerce platform to host an online Jualan Ihsan Rahmah with #JomLokal grocers, such as Hero Market and Kedai FGV, along with exclusive LIVE promotions featuring renowned creators. Malaysian online shoppers will enjoy up to 30% off discount vouchers and additional special savings when checking out using TikTok Pay to purchase groceries and daily necessities, such as rice, sugar, flour, and more.

TikTok Shop's Pesta #JomLokal event also complemented KPDN's on-ground Jualan Rahmah, with special promotions from Homes Fresh Grocer. The event brought together local entrepreneurs, affiliate creators, shoppers, and government partners to strengthen Malaysian homegrown brands and domestic trade through digital upskilling, commercial matchmaking, knowledge sharing, and marketing support. It was designed in alignment with KPDN's Jom Beli Produk Malaysia (Jom Malaysia) initiative.

Zalina Zulkapli, Founder of Umooda, a Malaysian #JomLokal brand on TikTok Shop, said: "As a Malaysian brand, our focus is always on keeping everyday essentials affordable for families while taking care of our team. TikTok Shop's support plays a vital role in helping us manage our operational costs and maintain a healthy cash flow. By lowering seller fees, we are better positioned to pass greater value directly to consumers and protect our employees' livelihoods, all while continuing to sustainably grow our presence in the digital economy."

Zulkifli Bin Suli, Founder of Zulkifli Suli, a homegrown #JomLokal brand on TikTok Shop, echoed the sentiment: "We appreciate TikTok Shop's efforts to support both sellers and shoppers through this initiative. The combination of seller commission fee waivers, shipping support, and consumer discounts creates value across the entire ecosystem. It allows local businesses like ours to continue offering competitive prices while helping more Malaysians access essential goods at a time when affordability remains important for many households."
