Summer 2025 songs Dominating TikTok in Nigeria and South Africa

TikTok has revealed its Songs of the Summer 2025 around the world, nostalgia and rhythm took over, turning feeds into a nonstop celebration of African sound.

Nigeria's Song of the Summer

In Nigeria, Bhad Boi’s ‘Wasiu Ayinde’ claimed the #1 spot as the nation’s Song of the Summer. The song fuses street rhythm with Fuji-inspired cadences; a nod to the legendary Wasiu Ayinde and instantly became a cultural love letter to Nigeria’s musical roots.

From street-style clips to dance videos and nostalgic throwbacks, it soundtracked the joy and authenticity that Nigerian creators are known for.

Hot on its heels was ‘Ngishutheni’ by Goon Flavour, Eemoh and Master KG which dominated in South Africa, taking the #1 spot and #2 in Nigeria. The infectious Amapiano anthem became a continental hit, inspiring raves, GRWM routines, and viral dance trends that crossed borders. Even global stars joined in on the fun, cementing its place as one of TikTok’s defining sounds of the season.

Other standout songs at #3 RybeenaGademand Davido ft. Omah Lay’s With you at #4 also left their mark on TikTok this summer. “With You” brought out the softer, romantic side of creators, perfect for couple challenges, wedding videos, and every moment that screamed love is sweet.

Meanwhile, at #5 Olamide, Asake, Young Jonn, and Seyi Vibez delivered the hustler’s anthem with “99a soundtrack for ambition and resilience that resonated deeply with Nigerian creators while at #10 Kelvinnice’s Heart fused Sia Elastic Heart with Igbo Ogene sounds to deliver one of the most unique cultural mashups of the year.

South Africa's Song of the Summer

In South Africa, right behind the #1 song, ‘Ngishutheni’ by Goon Flavour, Eemoh and Master KG , Khadeair’s “Magumba” claimed the #2 spot, grooving through charts with its unmistakable sound.

CIZA, Jazzworx, and Thukuthela’s “Isaka (6am)” came in solid at #3, and earned its place at capturing the hearts of TikTok creators and listeners alike, and the heavyweight collaboration of Bengicela between MaWhoo, GL_Ceejay, Thukuthela and Jazzwrld at #4 dominated the 3-step genre world with viral challenges and dance trends across the platform.

Every clip, remix and dance move inspired by the song has only amplified its reach, turning it into an anthem for ages. From Fuji to Amapiano to Afrobeats this summer proved once again that Africa’s sounds whether deeply traditional or irresistibly modern, continue to shape global music and inspire communities online.
