Je openbare profiel aanpassen

When you post on TikTok, the first thing you should always keep in mind is your personal privacy. Your profile picture, cover photo, and description are public, so they can be seen by anyone. Make sure to carefully consider what you choose to include. In addition to the protection we actively provide for users, we offer safety tools to help you manage your online presence.

You're in control of your videos

We want you to have full control over what you share and what you don't. You can adjust the privacy settings for your profile (making it private or public) as well as your videos.

  • Decide who can watch your videos: By setting your account to "Private", only approved users will be able to follow you and view your videos. To make your account private, open your settings, go to "Privacy and safety", and turn on "Private account".
  • You can also decide who can view your video on a video-by-video basis, when posting and after posting. This allows you to have a public profile while still being able to share certain content with select audiences.
  • Limit downloads of your videos: If you don't want your videos to be downloaded by other people, open your settings, go to "Privacy and safety", and turn off "Allow your videos to be downloaded".
  • Decide who can view videos you liked: To keep videos that you've liked private, open your settings, go to "Privacy and safety", and tap "Who can view your liked videos".

Limit unwanted comments

Manage comments on your videos by deciding not only who can comment, but also keep filtered words out.

Control who can comment

To decide who can comment on all videos from your account, open your settings, go to "Privacy and safety", and tap "Who can comment on your videos".

You can also change your comment settings on each video:

  1. Open the video and tap [...].
  1. Tap "Privacy settings".
  1. Tap "Allow comments" to turn comments on or off.

Manage comments on your videos by deciding not only who can comment, but also keep filtered words out.

Filter comment

Create a custom list of keywords that will be blocked automatically from comments on your videos:

  1. From your profile, open your account settings.
  1. Tap "Privacy and safety".
  1. Tap "Filter comments".
  1. Tap the toggle to enable "Filter keywords" > tap "Add keywords".
  1. Enter keywords and tap "Done".

Controlling interactions with others

Control what people see on your profile

If you make your account private, only your followers can see your updates and videos that you share. You'll be able to review and approve followers of your account.

Direct messages

On TikTok, you must be over 16 years old to send and receive Direct Messages.

If you are over 16 years old, choose who is allowed to send you direct messages by:

  1. From your profile, open your account settings.
  1. Tap "Privacy and safety".
  1. Tap  "Who can send you direct messages".
  1. Tap and choose between "Friends" or "Off".

Block an account

We encourage users to follow our Community Guidelines and treat other people on TikTok with respect. If someone violates these rules, or makes you uncomfortable by bullying or harassing you, you can block that user and report their behavior. When you block a user, they will not be able to contact you, or view and interact with any of your content.

Block an account or a user

  1. Go to the profile of the user you want to block.
  1. Tap [...] in the top right corner.
  1. Tap "Block" and confirm.

If you change your mind, unblock the user by tapping "Unblock". You can also open your settings, go to "Privacy and safety" > "Blocked accounts" and tap "Unblock".

Report content or accounts

We encourage our global TikTok community to report any inappropriate content you may come across. You can report a video, account, or direct message or comment that you've received.

When we identify content that violates our Community Guidelines, we remove the content and suspend or ban accounts involved in severe or repeated violations. In cases where there is a threat of imminent harm, we will escalate the situation to relevant legal authorities to keep our community safe.

Choose who can Duet or React with your videos

"Duet" and "React" allows creators to collaborate with each other's videos. You're always in control of your content and you can choose who can make Duets with or React to your videos. In your "Privacy and safety" settings, you can decide if everyone, friends, or no one can Duet or React with your videos.

You can also adjust your "Duet" and "React" settings on each video either when posting or after you posted the video.

Family Pairing

Family Pairing is an in-app feature that allows a parent, family member or guardian to help you stay safe while enjoying a wide variety of videos on TikTok. Family Pairing is available within the Digital Wellbeing suite of features and can only be turned on with your permission.

We developed this feature to encourage a dialogue between you and your parent or guardian about your online experience.

  • When Family Pairing is activated, your parent or guardian has access to the following settings: "Screen time management", "Restricted mode", and "Who can send you direct messages".
  • Your parent or guardian only has access to the settings listed above. They will not have access to the videos you watched, messages or comments you received or sent, or the accounts you interacted with.
  • To turn off Family Pairing, tap "Unlink" in your Family Pairing settings. Your parent or legal guardian will receive a notification in their TikTok app, and after a 48-hour period, your accounts will be unlinked. To turn Family Paring back on, you'll need to link your accounts again.
