Dublin operation will be one of three regional hubs designed to drive localised content policy approach, led by experienced technology executive Cormac Keenan

TikTok, the world’s leading destination for short-form mobile video, today announced the establishment of a new EMEA Trust & Safety Hub in Dublin, to be headed up by one of Ireland's most respected industry leaders, Cormac Keenan.

Building on recent local leadership appointments in markets including the UK, this dedicated regional hub will place an even greater focus on strengthening policies, technologies and moderation strategies and ensuring that they complement both local culture and context. The hub will also collaborate closely with regional regulators, policymakers, government and law enforcement agencies where required in the continued pursuit of promoting the highest possible standard of user safety.

The Dublin hub will sit alongside similar hubs in the San Francisco Bay Area and Singapore, which will be responsible for covering other key regions around the world.

Alex Zhu, President of TikTok, comments: "TikTok is attracting more and more new users drawn to a truly creative, joyful and authentic space to express themselves. For people to feel comfortable expressing themselves, they must feel safe. The establishment of this new EMEA hub in Dublin and Cormac's appointment is part of our ongoing commitment to prioritise user safety by continuously strengthening the policies, technologies and strategies that both facilitate freedom of creative expression and protect users from harm. This hub, under Cormac's leadership, will shape a more localised content policy approach that aligns with the values, standards and norms of our key markets across the region."

Commenting on his appointment, Cormac Keenan said: "TikTok is a totally unique content platform. I'm excited to have the opportunity to lead this new hub and shape a more locally-relevant content policy approach that helps our community to continue to feel as comfortable as possible expressing themselves to the full."

Keenan brings to TikTok nearly 20 years' experience working in major technology companies. In 2003, he joined Google, working across various teams for several years before moving to Facebook in 2010. In his almost 10 years at Facebook, Keenan has been a key senior leader for its Community Operations and Global Operations team, based in the company's international headquarters in Dublin.

Keenan will assume his new role as Head of Trust & Safety, EMEA, in early February.
