25 February 2025 - In celebration of Safer Internet Day and as part of our work to ensure that TikTok remains a creative, safe, and civil place for our Philippine community, TikTok organized a series of events with civil society organizations, safety experts, creators, and election watchdogs to counter emerging threats, help maintain the integrity of elections, and keep TikTok safe and positive.

Briefing Session with Philippine Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)

Last 11 February, we held a closed-door session with 30 civil society organizations specializing in minor safety, misinformation, women's rights, human exploitation, mental health, and disaster relief, to gain a greater understanding of the local context and of local concerns.

Atty. Ona Caritos, Executive Director of LENTE, expressed the organization's commitment to ensuring truthful elections and meaningful electoral participation for the good of the Filipino people. "As misinformation and disinformation continue to challenge elections, we are excited to build on our collaboration with TikTok, which began in 2022, and work toward deepening our partnership for the 2025 elections and beyond. We are hopeful that this continued collaboration will contribute to promoting election integrity ahead of the 2025 National, Local, and 1st BARMM Parliamentary elections through digital literacy and ensuring a space for Filipinos to have access to credible and verified information,” she said.

Briefing Session with Filipino Creators

In partnership with the Creator and Influencer Council of the Philippines (CICP), we held a closed-door session with 40 creators to educate them about our Community Guidelines and our elections policies and to encourage them to participate in our #ThinkTwice Digital Literacy Campaign. Safety Advisory Council Member and TikTok Creator Mona Magno-Veluz (@mightymagulang) joined TikTok Public Policy Manager Peachy Paderna for a panel discussion about responsible content creation.

"TikTok provides us creators with a space where we can share our thoughts, showcase our creativity, and connect with our community. But while we have the freedom to express ourselves, we are also responsible for the content that we post and share. We can help ensure that TikTok remains a safe and positive platform for creative expression and authenticity by educating ourselves and our community on how to be digitally literate and responsible online users," said Mona Magno-Veluz, TikTok Safety Advisory Council member and TikTok Creator.

As part of our partnership with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), LENTE, and the National Citizens Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL), we held closed-door sessions with government organizations, civil society organizations, and election watchdogs to share our elections integrity work and our Government, Politician, and Political Party Accounts Policies.
