On Tuesday, May 21, 2024 TikTok announced the winners of the #TikTokShortFilm competition at the TikTok Short Film Awards Celebration in Cannes, France, during the 77th edition of the Festival de Cannes. As the Official Partner of Festival de Cannes, TikTok brought back the #TikTokShortFilm competition for its third year, celebrating the incredible impact and creativity of our global community of one billion users.

Over 70k videos across 55 countries were submitted — mirroring the originality and diversity of stories showcased during Festival de Cannes, while captivating jury members and our global TikTok community. The hashtag #TikTokShortFilm has now been posted over 2.3 million times on TikTok, highlighting the community's enthusiasm for the competition. Selected by a jury of three highly-acclaimed judges, this year's winners* took TikTok users on a journey from Thailand to France to the UK, with short films that were timely, moving, and spectacular.

After deliberation, the jury — including @enorahope, @guywithamoviecamera, and @hatikyo_off — selected three short films that were best in class across three categories: Grand Gagnant, Best Script and Best Directing, by creators with three very different styles:


🏆 GRAND GAGNANT

Title: "Ouija"

Creator: Atipat Phukosi, @dolikeaduck 

Country: Thailand

About the film: With a gift for storytelling, Atipat combines Ouija boards, local beliefs and ghostly mischief, all in a comedic tone. His work creates a link between tradition and modernity, showcasing Thai culture on the international stage.

About the creator: Ten years ago, Atipat and his team began their passionate journey into filmmaking by making short films for clients and distributing them on various online platforms. Despite the ups and downs, they persevered — now, they're taking on a new challenge with TikTok and its innovative vertical video format, which offers them new opportunities to showcase their talent.

About the creator: Nigerian-born British photographer, filmmaker, and songwriter Onyi Moss is based in Manchester, where she has turned her passion for art into a thriving career, winning several prestigious awards collaborating with world-famous brands.

🎬 #TikTokShortFilm 2024 — From the Phone to the Big Screen

For #TikTokShortFilm 2024, TikTok and Cinémas Pathé are renewing their partnership to screen the winning short films in cinemas, from May 24 to May 26 in five French cities: Paris, Lyon, Nantes, Rennes, and Toulouse. We are thrilled to continue to have this unique opportunity to showcase the creativity and talent of the TikTok community to a wider audience building enthusiasm and passion for cinema on and off the platform.

*The Grand Gagnant category winner will receive a cash prize of 10,000€, while winners of the Best Script and Best Directing categories will receive 5,000€ each to support their future creative projects.
