With mental health increasingly being thrust into the limelight in Singapore today, collective compassion and kindness can help society reduce stigma. As part of its ongoing commitment to promote online kindness, TikTok, the world's leading destination for short-form mobile video, has launched a global safety campaign titled #CreateKindness, working with content creators across the world to develop a series of unique and compelling safety videos that will tackle critical issues from emotional well-being to cyberbullying.

The global campaign features the real and personal stories of 6 diverse creator-animators, @milkymichii, @recokh, @kellyemmrich, @amyrightmeow , @rosie.gif , and @king.science, who illustrate their personal experiences with online bullying and how to counter it. Each creator uses their unique animation style to tell their story, offer advice around countering bullying and share why it is important for everyone to choose kindness.

To foster an inclusive and supportive community in Singapore, TikTok calls on Singapore creators to kickstart the movement and #CreateKindness together:

With the goal of driving more online conversations around online safety, #CreateKindness videos will be available on @TikTokSG, as well as @TikTokTips, a TikTok-owned dedicated account to promote privacy, safety, and positive vibes.

"We're mindful that online interactions often have offline impact; so, we hope this movement will inspire conversations around nurturing kindness and compassion. In this effort, we're glad to encourage our community to share heart-warming stories and moments that inspire kindness. After all, we are one community, and what makes us special is how we care for one another," said Doreen Tan, User and Content Operations Manager, TikTok Singapore.

Fostering kindness and preventing bullying on TikTok

People around the world come to TikTok to be entertained and to express themselves creatively. From creators highlighting personal behaviours that have been influenced by loved ones in the mosaic trend, to users sharing their customs and traditional food with the #culturechallenge, TikTok is driven to maintain a welcoming environment for the global community, and over the last year has introduced a range of features aimed at fostering kindness and preventing bullying.

Videos using hashtags related to kindness, including #love and #kindness have garnered over 400 billion views and generated almost 50 billion video creations around the world. Heart stickers and creative effects are also among the most popular product features used on TikTok to celebrate kindness. These have been added to over 2 billion videos globally in the past year, with communities in the US, Philippines, Indonesia, Brazil, and Mexico using them the most.

"The #CreateKindness movement builds upon our ongoing efforts to foster kindness, prevent bullying, and empower creators to improve their TikTok experience. Especially in this moment in time, we strongly believe it's critically important to continue cultivating an atmosphere where everyone feels safe and welcome to create and share authentically," added Doreen.
