It has come to our attention that scammers have been using the TikTok name to entice their victims. This typically involves scammers creating group chats or sending unsolicited messages to individuals, inviting them to perform a range of tasks such as following TikTok accounts or liking and commenting on content for monetary benefit, or offering individuals job opportunities at TikTok.

More information is available here: Police advisory on job scam involving social media tasks.

Please be informed that such messages are scams. TikTok and its partners do not operate in this manner. Please be vigilant and think twice before sharing personal information or sending money. Always check your sources of information.

TikTok is committed to protecting the safety of all users in our community. We want to make sure that our community is able to safeguard against such scams. Here are some precautionary measures, as advised by the Singapore Police Force:

  • ADD ScamShield App to protect yourself from scam calls and SMSes. Set security features (e.g. set up transaction limits for internet banking transactions, enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), Multifactor Authentication for banks and e-wallets). Do not send money to anyone whom you do not know or have not met in person before.
  • CHECK For scam signs with official sources (e.g. ScamShield WhatsApp bot @ https://go.gov.sg/scamshield-bot, call the Anti-Scam Helpline on 1800-722-6688, or visit www.scamalert.sg). Always verify the authenticity of job offers through official channels/sources and do not accept dubious job offers that offer lucrative returns for minimal effort. Do not engage or believe claims made in any messaging app group chats that you are randomly added or invited to and do not click on suspicious URLs or download apps from unknown sources.
  • TELL Authorities, family, and friends about scams. Report the scammers or group chat using the in-app reporting function on the relevant messaging platforms.

Reporting potential scams helps prevent future attempts and protect others. If you encounter suspicious activity while on TikTok, please report it in-app under “Frauds and Scams” so that we can take immediate action and continue to keep the platform safe for our community.
