KUALA LUMPUR, 23 October 2024 - Following the finale of Malaysia's "TikTok LIVE X Astro #GimmeTheMic Malaysia" in September, our very own homegrown top six finalists have now advanced to the semi-finals of #GimmeTheMic 2024 Global, where they will face head on and sing their hearts out with other LIVE music creators from around the world.


A standout success this year is Syaffiq Sahli emerging as a formidable global competitor, currently ranking 2nd in points, and the other five are also gifted with the opportunity to continue their road-to-fame in the semi-finals! This achievement highlights Malaysia’s talent and growing influence in the global music scene. (List of the six semi-finalists and profiles shared in appendix)


TikTok LIVE’s global talent show, #GimmeTheMic, returns in 2024, continuing its mission to spotlight creators from around the globe. This year’s competition emphasizes the music vertical, building on the platform’s strategy to cultivate and empower user-generated content while fueling the growth of music creators and engaging talent show hosts. #GimmeTheMic is more than just a talent show—it's a celebration of creativity and community, encouraging users worldwide to join in through dynamic performances, interactive contests, and collaborations. The competition showcases TikTok LIVE’s commitment to amplifying diverse voices, fostering an ecosystem where creators can shine, and users can engage in positive, inclusive entertainment.


The global semi-finals of #GimmeTheMic 2024 will take place on 23rd and 24th of October, with 40 contestants from the Winner Group advancing to this stage. Each LIVE show will feature 4 contestants, each having 5 minutes to perform on a multi-guest hosted session by the official TikTok LIVE account (@tiktoklive_creator).


The top two contestants from each LIVE show will advance directly to the Global Finale, which will be announced after the semi-finals, leading to 20 contestants in total making it to the last stage. In parallel, the Revival Group will also allow creators to compete for a chance to enter the Global Finale based on their leaderboard scores. The top 5 of this group will secure their spots, providing another opportunity for creators to be part of the Global Finale.


The top three winners of #GimmeTheMic 2024 will receive a recording deal, the opportunity to release an original song, and shoot a music video. They will also gain significant exposure through a feature on TikTok's official LIVE account, helping them build a global fanbase. In addition, winners will have their music distributed and promoted through SoundOn, ensuring their songs reach a wider audience. To mark their achievements, each of the top three will also receive official recognition with a trophy. Through these opportunities, TikTok LIVE aims to uncover and elevate local talent to global recognition.
