Year-end report looks back at this year's popular trends, creators and moments in Ireland that sparked joy and real-world impact
DUBLIN, IRELAND - 6 December, 2022: In 2022, we lived, we laughed, we learned on TikTok. Our Irish and global community entertained and inspired each other, elevating and celebrating self-expression by discovering, creating and sharing content that captured our collective imagination.
In celebration of 2022, today we're unveiling our Year on TikTok 2022, the annual year-end report that celebrates our Irish community along with the trends, creators and moments that made 2022 a year that's truly #ForYou in Ireland and the rest of the world.
This year, TikTok is where we experienced the joy of learning a few new tips to make our lives easier, cooking our way through culinary adventures, turning the pages of our favorite books, singing along to songs stuck in our heads, and so much more. This year, our fyfaves in Ireland include a video from chef, @DonalSkehan who shares his slow cooker meatball stew, along with the NGO, @SealRescueIreland who introduces us to Baji the seal.
Through our Only on TikTok category - the trends you would only find on TikTok - Irish FarmTok videos drove tens of millions of views in the past year as farming content reached phenomenal popularity both in Ireland and around the world. Meanwhile, a Newtownards department store became globally famous when their @wardensofnewtownards account went viral after being spotted by @holymorridge.
Our Year on TikTok list also continues to spotlight the diverse community of creators in Ireland who have been inspiring us, making us laugh and teaching us new skills every day. Our Breakthrough Stars list in 2022 features @KateGrantModel, a model with Downs Syndrome, @pintofplane, a woodworker craftsman from Innishannon and @itz_jacob_33 who has documented his transition journey on TikTok
TikTok continues to be a place where people go to learn, and this year, we've included a list of our favourite TikTok Taught Me creators, including, @mirendarosenberg who sparked the global #TallowTok trend, money and budgeting expert @IrishBudgeting, and mental health advocate @sean_flanagannn.

- @alliesherlock- Singer songwriter, Allie from Douglas in Cork, has more than 318.1K followers on TikTok. She signed her first record deal in 2017 when she was just 14 and has released 2 albums - her hitlist includes Perfect and Million Years Ago .
- @ryanmackmusic- Life turned upside down for Kildare songwriter Ryan Mack with the release of his viral hit 'Broke' at the tail end of 2020. Ryan has just finished supporting one of his favourite bands, New York brothers AJR on their European Tour; and will be kicking off his own European tour in February of 2023.
- @welshyofficial- Kilkenny-born producer Ross Walsh, also known as Welshy has shown he is not afraid to innovate and mix up his sound on TikTok, where he has gained a mass of followers for his quirky videos and remixes. Welshy currently has more than 84.1K followers on the platform sharing content on his music, studios set up and live audiences at festivals.
- @beltersonly- Belters Only are the Irish DJ duo comprised of friends Bissett and Robbie G. The duo have come together to make hit songs including their popular song 'Make Me Feel Good". - @bradheidi- Galway-based singer-songwriter Brad Heidi has gone from busking on the streets to selling out his first headline tour as well as releasing his debut EP. - @a9offica- With more than 145K followers, Tomas Adedayo Adeyinka, commonly known as Offica, is a well-known Irish rapper on TikTok. His TikTok content focuses on his music videos as well as having fun and behind the scenes activities.
- @picturethis- Debuting in the late 2010s, the band was formed by childhood friends Ryan Hennessy (vocals and guitar) and Jimmy Rainsford (drums), who grew up in Athy, County Kildare, and attended the same school. They later recruited friends Owen Cardiff (guitar) and Cliff Deane (bass) to solidify their quartet in 2015. Picture This is now a popular band in Ireland playing festivals and concerts such as Malahide Castle and Electric picnic. Their TikTok account, which has over 70K followers, shares a glimpse of the band's music and concerts.
- @sammycopley- Dublin-based singer/songwriter Sammy Copley recently independently released his first full-length body of work, the majestic Growing Pains. Sammy is a familiar face on TikTok sharing videos of his music and guitar playing to his 90k+ followers.
