Entries now being accepted for TikTok's international short-film competition
TikTok, official partner of the Festival de Cannes, is celebrating creative talent and cinema by raising the curtain on the third edition of #TikTokShortFilm, the one of a kind international short film competition.
From now until 15 March 2024, TikTok is inviting creators to take part in this major competition that brings together more than 55 countries, by submitting their original videos in TikTok's signature vertical format and with 1min+ length.
Entrants will be competing for one of three prizes: 'Grand Prize Winner', 'Best Script' and 'Best Direction'. The winners will be invited to attend the awards ceremony, to be held in Cannes in May 2024, at the time of the 77th Festival de Cannes.
#TikTokShortFilm 2024, will be revealing new cinema talents
For the third year in the row, #TikTokShortFilm competition will put the light on new talents, whether professionals or cinema's enthusiasts, who will see their creativity discovered by a community of 1 billion people worldwide.
From now, until 15 March 2024, TikTok creators are invited to express their art through 1min+ videos. Entrants are invited to apply through through the in-app form and publish their original creation on TikTok, with the hashtag #TikTokShortFilm. The most popular creations will then be shared with the Jury to decide on 'Grand Winner', 'Best Script' and 'Best Direction'. The winners will be invited to Cannes, for the 77th Cannes Film Festival, and will receive their prizes at a special awards ceremony. To date, #TikTokShortFilm has attracted more than 2 million videos posted on TikTok, demonstrating the incredible enthusiasm of the TikTok community for audiovisual creations and cinema.

This competition once again demonstrates the incredible power of TikTok, which is both a genuine talent spotlight and a fantastic springboard for both established and up-and-coming talent on the platform. Over the last 3 years, the #TikTokShortFilm competition has enabled many creators to make their dreams come true, turning their passion into a job and helping them to break into the entertainement industry.
- Lucas Dutra won best script at the last #TikTokShortFilm with his short film (Nos) na Cabeça and has been awarded as a "Revelation of the Year" at the XXVII Globo de Oro gala (2023) in Portugal ! Lucas has been also dealing with 2 main Portuguese TV channels and is currently writing and directing a web-series for Channel 4!
- Did you know that, a Japanese winner of #TikTokShortFilm 2023, inspired Michel Hazanavicius, one of France's greatest directors? "Coupez", projected at the opening ceremony of the 75th Cannes Festival, was inspired by a Japanese short film, "Ne coupez pas" written and directed by... Shinichiro Ueda!
- Claudia Cochet, winner of the 'Best Script' award in 2022, has gained credibility in the industry thanks to her award and the visibility offered by TikTok. She has been invited to numerous short film festivals, co-written two feature films and directed a pilot for a multi-platform series.
