In May, we announced the return of the TikTok Book Awards UK and Ireland 2024.

Today we are excited to share the 2024 Book awards shortlist!

We are thrilled to announce that two Irish female authors have made the shortlist.

⭐ Author Claire Wright @clairewright.author for BookTok Breakthrough Author ⭐

⭐The Rachel Incident for Book of the Year by Caroline O’Donoghue @czaronline

From #BookRecommendations to #Romantasy, #BookTok is a thriving community of literature lovers, who are united through their passion for reading. With over 34 million posts on TikTok and counting, this community is helping to drive book sales, support independent book shops and supercharge the careers of up-and-coming authors or previously underrepresented genres.

The TikTok Book Awards gives this community a chance to vote for the books, indie bookshops, authors, and creators that have made the #BookTok ecosystem in Ireland unique. The TikTok Book Awards launched last year, with author Holly Jackson, Bolu Babalola's Honey & Spice and TikTok creator Eden Victoria among the inaugural winners.

This year's shortlist has been decided by a panel of industry experts. Including TikTok creators Jack Edwards and previous winner Eden Victoria, CEO of the Publishers Association Dan Conway, Editor of The Bookseller Philip Jones, Black British Book Festival CEO & Founder Selina Brown, and renowned authors Samantha Shannon and Sara Cox.

The Book Award winners will ultimately be decided by the TikTok community. Last year over 160,000 people had their say and now the 2024 voting hub is officially open.

Phillip Jones, Author and TikTok Book Awards Judge said: "Judging the awards this year has been an absolute delight: that there is so much enthusiasm, dedication and interest in discussing books is a real gift to the business. I found the shortlists, and the people behind the shortlists, broad in their outlook, diverse in their perspectives and incredibly generous in their approaches to the different genres, books and authors that were the subject of the BookTok lens. These awards are then a moment to celebrate all the hard work that is made to look so effortless, but also a time to reflect on the importance of these voices and what they do. My congratulations to all of the shortlistees."

Eden Victoria, TikTok Book Awards Creator of The Year 2023, said: 'It was an honour to win Creator of the Year at the TikTok Book Awards last year. Returning as a judge has been hugely exciting, and I see it as a lovely way to celebrate and uplift the BookTok community.'

* The TikTok Shop Book of Year winner will be decided based on TikTok Shop sales data and the impact the book has had on TikTok.
