It's the most wonderful time of the year, and on TikTok we've been getting into the festive spirit. Every year, it's amazing to see creators from across Ireland and globally share their Christmas celebrations - from food, to decorations to their favourite holiday songs!

The platform has become a source of inspiration and advice for those hosting Christmas or looking to add something extra to their celebrations. With over 33.7 million posts for the #Christmas hashtag on TikTok, there's plenty of inspiration to be found!

Today, TikTok is unveiling the trends that we've seen on the platform as we continue counting down to Christmas. From the ultimate roasties to cosy activities you can get involved with, let TikTok be your guide to how to make the most of the festive season.

This year the TikTok community is throwing it back to a #90sChristmas

This year, TikTok is buzzing with a nostalgic Christmas revival, as the #90schristmas and #tackychristmas hashtags highlight a shift toward retro, colourful decorations. In contrast to the minimalistic, elegant aesthetics that we've seen trending during Christmases' past, this trend is all about warmth, joy, and authenticity during the holiday season. As part of this trend, we're seeing our community jumping on the #christmasnostalgia wagon, sharing old family recordings of Christmases' past and adorning their trees with Christmas decorations that have a distinctly homemade feel. In a continuation of the #coquette trend that went viral earlier in the year, creators have also been embracing bows in all aspects of their Christmas festivities. Perfect for putting on the tree, on gifts or just around the house, creators have been sharing tutorials on how to tie the perfect bow, bow tying hacks and unique decor ideas, like a massive Christmas tree bow!

Beef Wellington returns as a showstopping centrepiece

People are always looking to shake up their Christmas dinner with alternatives to the traditional Turkey, and #BeefWellington has emerged as a particular standout, with a 10k increase in creations over the first weeks of December on TikTok! This year, mini Beef Wellingtons are a popular Christmas party appetizer, as has replacing the mushroom duxelles with stuffing. And if you want to nail the perfect roastie, @poppycooks is here to help, sharing her recipe for the ultimate roast potatoes.

Turning to tipples, the festive period is also the perfect time for a fun upgrade on your favourite cocktail. Some of the popular recipes we've seen recently include gin-gle bell fizz, Grinch mimosa and the Santa Clausemopolitan.

For those who are braving the cold, a #ChristmasMarket is a great way to get in the festive mood! From Edinburgh, London, to locations further afield, creators have been sharing their favourite festive eats thanks to the 'Everything I ate at the Christmas Market' trend. Culinary highlights include Yorkshire pudding burritos, Yule Log and loaded turkey fries.

Holiday games get a TikTok makeover

When the weather outside is frightful, TikTok has plenty of ideas for delightful Christmas activities which you can do indoors! The #Tapple board game has gone viral on the platform and we've loved seeing how our community has been using this activity to connect with their friends during the holiday season. Creators have also been sharing the games which they play together with their families at Christmas - from the classics to some more unusual ones!

Or if you're feeling peckish, #sugarcookiedecorating or making your own #gingerbreadhouse is the ultimate afternoon activity. Some creators have really been pushing the boat out, building and decorating their own Eras Tour stadium in homage to Taylor Swift

DIY decorations make a star appearance

It can be tricky knowing where to start with Christmas decorations, but luckily, the TikTok community is on hand to help! There are over 33.3k creations for the #diychristmasdecor hashtag, with creators providing tutorials on how to make your own decorations with minimal fuss.

In contrast to perfectly curated Christmas decorations in years gone by, creators have been embracing the more home-made and imperfect look this year. One of the most popular ways creators have been decorating on a budget, is by using colourful paper chains and paper stars, which bring a charming and nostalgic feel to any home!

For those looking to make an interior impact, #ChristmasCandles candles are officially the Christmas centrepiece trend for 2024. From hand painted candles to colourful taper candles, we love this fresh and cosy take on the classic Christmas table!
