We are delighted to see that Irish beauty creator and owner of Kash Beauty, Keilidh Cashell [@keilidhmua], who is known for sharing her makeup and beauty looks on TikTok has signed up to judge the finals of the sustainable fashion competiion, Junk Kouture [@junkkouture],

In celebration of Earth Month this April, we caught up with Keilidh ahead of the competition to hear her thoughts on her new role, perspective on sustainability and what shes currently loving on TikTok!

Questions:

Q: Can you share your favourite TikTok video you've created and why it stands out to you?

Definitely my grinch one! I had so much fun filming it, I actually think I got too into character that it was hard to snap out of haha! The more makeup I put on the more into character I get, and that video really shows the transformation. Overall it’s just really silly so I love it!

@keilidhmua Y’all loved my Who character so much, I had to come through with Mrs Grinch herself 👀 #thegrinch #whoville #makeup ♬ I'm booked - How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Q: What recent TikTok trends have caught your attention?

Hmmm I’m OBSESSED with Jake Shane [@octopusslover8] along with the rest of the world at the moment. His skits pretending to be certain objects or people are very, very funny.

Q: Who are some fellow TikTok creators in the sustainable fashion and eco-beauty space that frequently appear on your For You feed?

I follow a lot of creators who go thrifting and flip a lot of their clothing items to give them a new life. They’ve inspired me so much so that I have been looking into getting a sewing machine - I can’t sew but there’s only one way to learn!

Q: What do you hope to bring to the Junk Kouture panel?

I like to think I have an eye for detail, and I’m excited to see who has gone the extra mile or included little details that will just take their look to the next level. I’m looking for things that are super creative and out of the box, and that will genuinely inspire myself to get creative afterwards.

Q: How has your perspective on sustainability evolved since becoming a beauty creator and now a judge for Junk Couture in Ireland?

I think everyday to be honest I’m learning more and more about how I can be more sustainable and eco-friendly. It’s a constant learning experience and process that will keep evolving and that will need constant effort from everyone!

Q: What sustainable practices do you incorporate into your daily beauty routine and personal style choices?

I’ve definitely been making a conscious effort in my own life and business to be more eco-friendly, especially when it comes to my clothing! I enjoy buying second hand items way more actually because they have a story behind them and a life that they have already lived, and by purchasing them you are now giving them a new life again and the cycle continues.

Q: As a beauty creator, how do you encourage your followers to adopt more sustainable practices in their own lives?

I think through rewearing and reworking your clothing’s items, and then using your makeup products for more than one thing. That’s something I like to show a lot in my tutorials is how you can use your products in numerous ways. For example, using your blush not only on your cheeks but as a lip colour as well, and even on the eyes too! Making the most out of what you have and getting creative with it is definitely something I try to get across.

Q: What are some creative ways you've seen others in the TikTok community promote sustainability, and how have they inspired your own content?

I love watching styling videos on how you can wear one piece of clothing multiple ways! I get so inspired after seeing someone get creative that it makes me excited then to play around with my style and give my clothes a new lease of life!
