Since its Irish launch in 2018, TikTok has established itself as a destination for people in Ireland to come together to create, learn, be entertained, grow their business, and connect with communities locally and around the world.

From #BookTok creators inspiring a new generation of readers, to LGBTQIA+ trailblazers connecting globally through their shared experience, to the farming community using #FarmTok to champion rural communities, TikTok has played host to some of Ireland's most inspiring and entertaining stories, as told by the communities on TikTok.

Today, we're celebrating a big milestone for our community - there are now 2 million people across Ireland who are tuning into TikTok each month. This community comes to our platform to be inspired, learn new skills and connect with others through shared experiences, no matter how large or small.

Helping people learn

In this past year the #TeachersOfTikTok in Ireland demonstrated their passion and joy for teaching and combined it with practical advice for the #LeavingCert. Teachers that include Patrick Hickey (@lchistorytutor), Donnchadh O'Mahony (@leavingcertguidance), Tadgh O'Donovan (@teachwithtadgh) and Eimear Fitzpatrick (@gaeilge_bheo ) are using TikTok to foster a love for their subjects and are engaging with students in Ireland in a dynamic and accessible way. And learning on TikTok is not just confined to school subjects, Eoin Reardon aka (@pintofplane) shares his traditional woodworking tips while, Mirenda Rosenberg (@mirendarosenberg) sparked the enduring #TallowTok trend from her Donegal homestead.

A place where everyone has a community

TikTok is proud to be a place where an array of cultures and identities intersect, and we have always worked hard to make TikTok a safe space for people to express themselves freely. In Ireland, creators from the LGBTQIA+ such as Chris Murphy (@chrisisainmdom), Jacob Donegan (@itz_jacob_33), Meri Hernandez (@irelandsfavouritegay) and (@nialllcasey) have helped to educate, empower and entertain the wider TikTok community by candidly and proudly shared their personal stories, humour and views. Communities such as #FarmTok have gained popularity on TikTok with Irish farmers, such as Séaghan Ó Súilleabháin (@kerrycowboy_) sharing their farming lifestyle with thousands of followers. TikTok equally embraces creators who are using TikTok to support their livelihoods and business, whether it Helen from Sound Quality in Monaghan (@helen.drumm), dancing around her store, Mark from (@huhclothing_), a clothing brand raising awareness surrounding mental health or Aine Kennedy from (@thesmoothcompany) sharing how to tame your flyaway hairs.

Cormac Keenan, Head of Trust and Safety at TikTok commented: "Our vibrant community of 2 million people across Ireland is made up of book lovers, foodies, families, musicians, comedians, artists and so much more, who come to TikTok to discover, share their stories, inspire creativity and spread joy. It has been a privilege to see how TikTok has embedded itself into Irish culture over the past five years, and I want to say a big thank you to the incredible community of creators in Ireland who have helped us reach this incredible milestone by bringing their warmth, talents and authenticity to TikTok every day.
