More than 2.2 million people across Ireland come to TikTok every month. As a key part of our global operations, Ireland has a strategic place at the heart of Europe, and a longstanding position as a leading European tech hub, fostering a talent pool across Trust & Safety, European privacy, security, and small and medium-sized businesses advertising support. At TikTok, we aim to reflect the diversity of our platform in our workplace by fostering an inclusive and equitable environment for all employees.
One way we measure our progress is through gender pay gap reporting. This year's analysis includes thousands of employees working* on crucial areas of our business, and calculates:
- The difference in mean (the average) and median (the middle value) pay between male and female employees
- The difference in mean and median bonus pay between male and female employees
- The proportion of men and women in a set of quartiles segmented according to pay
- The proportion of men and women who received bonus payments and benefits in kind
Last year's analysis showed small pay differences between men and women, with single-digit figures across both mean and median pay. This year's data reflects similar trends, as the mean pay gap stands at 4.3%, while the median gap is 1.3%, showing small increases compared to last year (+1.7% and +1.9%, respectively). Women earned 2.7% more in bonuses than men on average.
A Balanced Workforce Distribution
As with previous years, there is near-equal representation of men and women across all pay quartiles. The analysis of gender distribution shows that women continue to have higher representation in the upper middle quartile, while men are more represented in the upper quartile and lower middle quartile. This year's data also shows a higher representation of women in the lower quartile. When it comes to bonus pay, the picture remains positive overall, with 93.4% of women and 92.7% of men receiving performance-related bonuses, maintaining a high level of participation across both groups.
Priorities for the Future
Championing diversity and inclusion remain central to our values at TikTok. While this year's results remain positive overall, we are committed to building on this momentum and further strengthening equity across the organisation.
