Gimme The Mic, TikTok LIVE's global talent competition to discover new musical talent is back for 2024, this time in partnership with TikTok's SoundOn.

First launched in 2023, Gimme The Mic gives emerging artists and music creators an opportunity to build their fanbases on TikTok LIVE, the platform that makes it easier for singers and musicians to showcase their talents, share their art with a global community and make a real-world impact.

Hundreds of music creators grabbed the mic and shared their talent with the community, culminating in 10 artists making it through to the final. Chrissy (@musicalchrissy88) from Kent, UK was eventually crowned the winner in a LIVE final watched by 300,000 viewers with even more on the creators' accounts.

When asked about her experience taking part in Gimme The Mic, Chrissy said, "Taking to the stage for Gimme the Mic was an incredible experience that helped build an audience of fans I feel incredibly connected to, although when I saw the viewer numbers, my heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest. From my first LIVE on the 31st October 2022 to seeing my following grow to over four hundred thousand, I can't wait to share more original music."

This year Gimme The Mic is upping the stakes, as three winners will team up with SoundOn, TikTok's all-in-one music distribution platform that supports artist development, enabling them to grow their fanbases, harness their creative voice and share their music with a global audience. The three artists will receive development, distribution and promotional support from TikTok, the world's number one platform for music discovery.

How to get the mic For UK artists and music creators, the regional Auditions of the competition will be held May 16 to May 27.

  1. UK Audition:

To audition, participants need to register on the audition page in-app and post one short submission video with hashtag #GIMMETHEMIC between May 16 and May 27. The audition phase will serve as a qualifier for the Global #GimmeTheMic Contest where 6 winners will go on to compete in the global contest.

  1. Regional Semi-Final

Following the audition period, 30 of the most popular creators will be selected to move on to perform and compete in pairs in the Semi-Final, a series of Multi-guest LIVE videos on @tiktoklive_uk from June 9 to June 10. Those who tune in will have a chance to vote for their favorite performers in real time. Users can collect votes when they complete tasks like registering for LIVE events and more.

  1. Regional Grand-Finale

For the final round, the Top 10 contestants from the Semi-Final will compete in the Regional Grand-Finale on June 16 for the chance to be crowned as the Gimme The Mic champion. In addition to the title, the winner will receive a ticket to be a contestant in our LIVE Global Finale for a chance to be crowned the Global Winner and see their single distributed and supported by SoundOn and TikTok. Taking place later this year, the Global Finale will feature winners from around the world competing for one of the three spots. Terms and conditions are available here.
