Ashley Gordon, aka DJ AG, redefined LIVE experiences on TikTok this year, driving a resurgence of grime in the UK whilst spotlighting talent across multiple genres. With his slick street setups, showcasing both rising and established talents, including freestyles with grime legends like Skepta and JME, DJ AG built a platform for organic music moments that are all about uplifting voices in the community.

To celebrate the incredible year, this Wednesday 11 December, DJ AG, TikTok LIVE and Defected Records (@defectedrecords) are joining forces to host a celebratory LIVE event, to be streamed on TikTok. This year-end showcase will be a tribute to DJ AG’s community, featuring some of his favorite artists, MCs and rappers who have performed on his groundbreaking TikTok LIVE sets throughout 2024.

Set to be a celebration of community, grassroots talent and music, the event underscores DJ AG’s mission to uplift emerging voices while spotlighting some of the biggest names in the industry across all genres. When asked about the upcoming LIVE, DJ AG said, “When you’re out on the streets you get to meet loads of different people from different walks of life. I feel the pain on the streets, there is a lot of sadness, darkness. For me, it’s really important to lift people up. There are so many artists that are fantastic and deserve the opportunity to progress through their music career and it’s really important to give them a space. There are loads of venues, pubs, clubs, bars that used to host open mic and talent nights that have now shut down which has limited the opportunities for emerging talent. This platform is all about a voice for the voiceless, bringing everyone to the forefront. Including the care centres, the schools, and all the other community projects that I am passionate about.

My journey on TikTok LIVE has been great, I’m extremely grateful. In reality without TikTok I would still be in a 9-5 job, sad. The platform has given me multiple opportunities, going to Miami and Barcelona, featuring on Billboards in London and the US. I’m very privileged that I now have the opportunity to push my message and complete my mission. I’m very grateful to TikTok for giving me this opportunity, long may it continue!”

The event, LIVE from DJ AG’s (@djagonline) TikTok account from 5pm, Wednesday 11 December, will be a celebration of 2024 for DJ AG and the community, featuring an unforgettable lineup of performances that span the year’s best, from grassroots talent to established MCs, rappers, and artists. Known for delivering organic, raw, and electric energy, AG will showcase the cultural impact of live music and street performances in communities across the country. He will also be on TikTok LIVE UK's (@TikTokLIVE_UK) account from 4pm for a Q&A with the community on the incredible journey of 2024.
