Every day, we are working to keep TikTok a safe and welcoming space for more than a billion people worldwide, including 150 million people in the European Union.
We've been committed to proactive transparency since 2019, regularly publishing reports on our safety efforts. Building on this, and in line with our obligations under the Digital Services Act, we are sharing our third DSA transparency report, covering the period from January to June 2024.
Key insights from this latest report include:
- Removing violative content and accounts: Across the 27 EU Member States, we removed more than 22 million pieces of content, including videos, livestreams and ads, for violating our Community Guidelines and our ad policies. We also banned more than 5 million accounts for breaking our rules.
- Taking action against illegal content: During this reporting period, we received around 144,000 illegal content reports corresponding to approximately 100,000 unique pieces of content. We estimate that 29% of those were found to violate our policies or local law and were actioned accordingly.
- Continuing to invest in moderation: Our automated moderation technology now removes 80% of violative videos, up from 62% last year. More than 6,000 people moderate EU language content, covering at least one official language for each EU country - consistent with previous reporting periods. This includes specialised misinformation moderators equipped with enhanced tools and trained to detect and remove violative content. Using people for context and technology for scale remains central to our strategy.
Transparency is an ongoing commitment, and we will continue to build on our proactive approach to keep users informed of our efforts under the Digital Services Act and beyond.
