Our 2025 Discover List is here, and we’re celebrating six incredible creators from Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) who are making waves across the platform. The Discover List 2025, is a global showcase of 50 "creators to watch” across five categories: Educators, Foodies, Icons, Innovators globalls—and our African creators are taking charge in shaping culture, sparking trends, and building communities.

So, who made the list? Let’s meet the Sub-Saharan Africa creators redefining what’s possible on TikTok.

Educators

From inspiring their followers, to advocating for change, these creators educate their community and entertain along the way. Whether they're teaching languages, exploring new technology, or highlighting ancient history, educators encourage us to discover something new and to learn more about the world.

  • Roy Kanyi (Kenya) -A tech enthusiast, Roy Kanyi simplifies the complex world of gadgets and electronics. His engaging, relatable content helps users make informed decisions on smartphones, TVs, and tech accessories, making him a go-to creator for tech education.

Foodies are taking viewers on mouthwatering adventures across the For You Feed, inspiring #FoodTok trends around the globe. They’re all adding their own creative spin on cuisine through #cooking, #baking, and more — and it’s all delicious.

  • Tosin Samuel (Nigeria)- Tspicekitchen is redefining food storytelling with mouth-watering recipes and stunning food presentations. From classic Nigerian dishes to international favourites, Tosin’s content merges culture, creativity, and culinary expertise—making every meal an experience.
  • Abena Amoakoaa Sintim-Aboagye (Ghana)- Chefabby uses the universal language of food to share the richness of Ghanaian cuisine with the world. Her flavour-packed content celebrates traditional dishes, giving them a modern twist while staying true to their cultural roots.

These creators need no introduction — they embody trends and culture and make an impact every day. They're well known on and off TikTok and are changing the game for content creators everywhere. They live and breathe TikTok culture and inspire others to do the same.

  • Charity Ekezie (Nigeria)- Boldly breaking stereotypes, Charity Ekezie uses humour to challenge misconceptions about Africa. Her fusion of comedy and education has captured an audience of over three million followers. From viral skits to global collaborations—including a video featuring Bill Gates—she has turned an inside joke into a global trend.

Innovators

Innovators put a new twist on what it means to be a content creator. They are pioneers in their fields who have a unique point of view in their content, and are not afraid to experiment and try something new.

  • Fanuel John Masamaki (Tanzania)- With over 12 million followers, Fanuel, also known as Zerobrainer0, is redefining sports content on TikTok. His signature beige blazer and comedic twist on football make his videos instantly recognisable. Fearlessly pushing creative boundaries, he continues to inspire millions.

Originators are the artists who share the music we live for. They inspire aesthetics, movements, the anthems. Originators are the heart of TikTok — they have a finger on the pulse of culture and create the soundtracks that define the year.

  • Thato Seth Mathobela (TitoM) and Bongani Kenneth Sibanyoni (Yuppe) South Africa- The dynamic duo of Titom +Yuppe have harnessed the power of TikTok to take South African music global. With a string of viral hits, their fanbase has extended beyond Africa, earning them recognition across Europe and beyond.

Celebrating Creators to Watch

We're thrilled to highlight our Discover List honorees as we continue building a unique platform where over one billion people come to be entertained and learn something new. Whether they’re starting trends, or redefining what it means to be an Educator, Foodie, Innovator, Icon, and Originator, these creators are the true definition of authentic expression, and we can’t wait to see what they do next.


TikTok is a unique place because of our incredible global community, and the process for selecting creators for The Discover List 2025 was also community-driven. Creators were nominated by our global team, and we evaluated which creators have been making a significant impact on and off the app over the past six months. Measurement levers included (but were not limited to): video creations, views, account growth, likes, comments, interactions with followers, and content that has sparked global conversations.
